The Fall of awesome games.

Postby Knight Errant » Sat Sep 27, 2008 10:42 pm

Okay... where should I start?

Fable 2? While I havent played Fable 1, just glancing at it lets me know it is just the kind of game I like... and now I am set to borrow and play the first before the second comes out.

Dead Space. While normally I dont like horror games, this one stands out. It has a unique combat system, very intense story (as in the makers made sure to not make story an excuse, but instead a major driving point of the game), and a very cool setting. A definite must get.

Fallout 3. For those of you who dont know, Fallout 1 and 2 pretty much were the beginning of the future of video game freedom. They were the first to not only have a non-linear game play (instead of being herded from one area to another, you had a huge map in which you could explore as you wished), but also were one of the first to cater to the mature gaming crowd. It is not a kids game. Unfortunately, the company that made it... fell into the abyss of bickering and red tape. it disappeared... but not before leaving its mark. The games most influenced by it I think are the Elder Scrolls... which take its idea of freedom to the extreme.

Now, Bethesda, the creator of the Elder Scrolls, have purchased the rights to Fallout and resurrected the post apocalyptic future from the past... And they have been making the game for FOUR YEARS. Now only a couple of months from release... it has the potential to be one of the greatest games of all time.

Don't forget about Little Big Planet. This game allows over thousands of different ways to customize levels along with being able to play with three other friends online and off. I would definitely say this game will help out the PS3's situation.

I actually don't have a PS3, but I do have a PS2 : D . LBP is probably one of the few games that makes me wish I had one though

I played the demo and I didn't think it seemed that great, but I guess I'll have to rent the real game some time to see if I'm wrong.

And Spore should be on that list too, even though it's already out, it's still a fall game.
Hmm.... Does anyone actually read these anyway?

Got the Force Unleashed, played it, was amused but not impressed?

I loved the settings, the gameplay, but... the story was just so pitiful.

All I could think of was how it could have been so much better.

And as for Spore, I honestly did forget that... though I might wait till it comes out for Wii to get it.

The only games I'm really interested in this fall is Tales of Symphonia 2 and especially Red Alert 3.

Especially Red Alert 3 because only Red Alert can feature time traveling, shrink rays, freeze beams, armored zeppelins, space debris as weapons, fighting bears, transforming mechas, ninjas, psychic school girls, and mash this all together in a way that actually makes canon sense. Oh, and that's not even all the craziness involved that makes me wanna get the game, the totally co-op story mode/campaign is also something I'm really looking forward to. You can play it with friends or with a silly AI for the assist, it's all good, yo.

Red Alert 3.

Or really, Command and Conquer Red Alert 3, it's a Real Time Strategy game so it may not be everyone's piece of cake, but it's wonderful fun, and I got to participate in the beta for it, and it's come a long way.

It's another sequel to the Command and Conquer Red Alert series which is well known for time traveling scientists, invulnerability granting devices, weather controlling machines, trained attack dolphins, wonderfully awesome naval battles, all powerful transylvanian psychics, and other loony-ness.

It's easy to pick up, and with three factions (The Allies, the Soviets, and The Empire of the Rising Sun (Japan basically)) it has a lot to offer, play-style wise.

And with the co op story mode (as in, you can play with an AI, or with a friend from online or whatever) I think it'll have a lot of opportunities for newbies to play. hell, if anyone else gets this game, lemmie know, cause I'd love to play with you all online either in the story mode, or in the normal multiplayer.

Let's see, you've forgotten Square's launches. We have Last Remnant coming up as well as the recently released Infinite Undiscovery. I've played the second one and while its not Square's best work its fairly decent other than clunky and slow controls. For you classic hounds, such as myself, Star Ocean:First Departure for the psp is also slated for release I believe this month. Also, the release of Chrono Trigger on the DS for all of you who want a copy of the old game and for those of you who never got a chance to play it. While it won't be in fall, we have Atlus bringing us another Persona game this year as well as their usual list of esoteric and wonderfully bizarre rpgs. Disgaea 3 has already been released this fall but you hardly have a complete list of awesome games without the dark humor king.

Ive been playing through fallout 3 and I have been enjoying every minute of it. I am a fan of the Elder Scrolls series so I am missing that setting a bit but the gameplay of fallout 3 is making up for that. The new WoW expansion comes out tomorrow and while I havent been a WoW player for a while, it looks very promising. And just 5 days after that, valves new game left 4 dead comes out and while zombie games arent usally my cup of tea, the coop for this game looks amazing.
