Potential Wii problem?

Postby Mitera Nikkou » Mon Jun 09, 2008 3:11 am

Exactly how much noise is a Wii supposed to make? The problem is that I can't remember how much noise it made some months back, if it made much of any at all. I figure that it used to be quieter before because I notice the noise it's making now. And tonight I got three disc errors while playing Radiant Dawn. It told me to look it up in the manual, but I got my Wii second-hand and it didn't come with it.

So... What can anyone tell me?

Er... in recent months I haven't played my Wii nearly as much, but I don't recall it ever making any large amount of noise. Usually stuff like that has to do with disk readers and the such. Wish I could help more, but I've never had a problem such as that with my Wii. :?

I've been looking around, and it seems that one cause for the noise can be from something being screwed in too tight in the machine. But since I think this was a development, my problem is either that my Wii is having trouble reading the discs (due to something being on the lens or not), or the update I got from Smash Bros. has screwed around with something. In fact, now that I think about it, it wasn't until Smash Bros. that I experienced any noise. I think the update had something to allow my Wii to read double-layered discs or something. I dunno. But my n00b senses, which are always full of fail, tell me that these are the two potential problems that I have.

Well, it must be broke, because I get an error with all of the games, now. I can't play anything. And since I bought it second-hand I suppose that means no warranty... But I'm going to see if I can make a call and, at the very least, find out what the problem is.

This really pisses me off.

Regardless, it would probably be worth your time to send it back to Nintendo so they can fix it up. They're pretty good about dealing with whatever it is, and cheaply too.

Well, luck might be with me... My mother made the call and there didn't seem to be anything to stop her from just sending it in for repairs. It seems that the one we got had been repaired once before (gee, how foreboding), and the warranty thus renewed another year at the time. While I didn't hear anything of the sort, I've been wondering if the person we called didn't ask for or say it was required to send in proof of a warranty because the new warranty was no longer based on the actual purchase of the product.
