Gilbert and Sullivan. Wonderful composers around just before and slightly into the 1900's. They wrote operettas... little operas full of humor and satire that are still performed today by major theaters.

I have the full sound track on my itunes... and its enough to tell you a story even if you dont see the plays (which I suggest you should... if you have the taste for humor and satire of the not exactly stale and conventional kind)

And his works have been used rather effectively in Evangelion- much to my amusement. Look at the 17th angel's battle scene and... yeah. I won't give it away if for some reason a person hasn't seen it. But I love it every time. And laugh hysterically as well.
