So... It's around that time when some people come into a little bit of extra money. Problem is, of course, I'm indecisive as ever. Between the PS2 and Wii, what games would you recommend? I prefer RPGs, but racers and fighters aren't so bad, either. I'm already considering Guilty Gear X2, for instance.

how much a little extra money, and how much do you expect to play?
If your going for the GG series yeah then get X2 as isuka and reloaded are just patchs without the storyline that X2 has.
If your going for a long RPG then Persona 3 or 4.
Smash Brothers is pretty much the only wii game worth getting.

Lies!
Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Strikers Charged, and Fire Embled: Radiant Dawn are all worth a look!
And oh yeah, any Guitar Hero.

What about Tales of Symponia: A New Dawn for the Wii?
I mean if you've played the first one on the Gamecube, I'd say the sequal on the Wii would be a very good purchase.
Course for RPGs it all depends on what type of RPG you like.
As the local resident with 100 PS2 games, I may be able to give a few suggestions.

Zero:
I'm hoping for $100+.
What can you tell me about Persona 3 and 4? It's a series I've never played.
Angie:
I've had Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart on my mind, but I'm more interested in games with lower prices at the moment. You know, try to get a good quantity along with a good quality, so they last a while.
And I don't think I could afford guitar hero plus whatever I'd need beyond the game. ;p
Garath:
I already have the sequel to Tales of Symphonia, and it was rather disappointing. ~_~
There aren't too many RPGs that I wouldn't like. But I'd still like something a bit different from standard. And humor is also a plus. I've got a decent amount of RPGs for the PS2, though, so I might as well list them so you know what not to suggest.
Atelier Iris 1, 2, 3, and Mana Khemia; Romancing Saga; Radiata Stories; Wild Arms 3, 4, 5, and Alter Code: F; Disgaea 1 and 2; Makai Kingdom; La Pucelle: Tactics. (You probably noticed all those Nippon Ichi games and, yes, I've played and finished Phantom Brave. I just don't own it. ;p)

Persona 3 and 4 are pretty simular games. Not exactly, and I dont' have Persona 4, so I can't comment on that one.
But this is what I know of 3 (having played a bit of it) You play a nameless (male) Protaginist. The game takes place in modern Japan times. It has a large 'dating' like system in place where by hanging out with various people/dating people you build 'socail links' which let you create 'Personas'
Personas are creatures that is basically your 'other self' that casts spells and abilities. There is only one dungeon in 3 (I hear there are many small ones in 4) Which every floor is a bit random in design everytime you enter.
There is a LOT more to it then that. Can anyone help me out? I'm not the best at describing games. :/
As for a few PS2 RPGs that I think are worth looking into:
Tales of the Abyss - I -LOVE- this game. It's my third favorite RPG EVER. Not sure if you'll like it that much obviously, but I still have to suggest it.
Odin Sphere is another really good one. You play as a female valkyrie (amoung other characters later) It's a 2D side scrolling action RPG. It 'can' be pretty difficult though.
(I'll have to come back to this. Anime club here)

Persona 3 seems a bit interesting, I guess. It depends on how customizable the characters are.
Tales of the Abyss has crossed my mind, but I've never heard much about it, so I've never been encouraged to really look it up.
I've also considered Odin Sphere, but it's a bit different from what I usually play and I'm unsure if the story would interest me.

SW: Force Unleashed.
Relatively old, but I heard it's worth it, particularly for the Wii. I played on 360, and I liked it.

The persona series is pretty hard to describe in simple words due to the fact that it's fairly complex. P3/4 are similar as the main heros in both are unnamed highschool students using a social interaction/dating situation to reveal characters personalities with a overlying theme concept for the actual dungeon/main story. P3 is about life/death and humanities struggle to survive and pretty much all the events up to the end for a ultimate resolution. P4 has a mysteries murder type situation which the overall theme is truth and understanding. They are not for everyone but overall if you like super indepth games with a RL type world and uniqueness i would say try them out.
Odin sphere is good, but can be tedious and annoying at times.

Well, I didn't get as much money as I had hoped, so I just got Tales of the Abyss and Xenosaga. I'm going to hold on to what I have left to add to some other venture.

You should be warned though--Xenosaga II I found to be nigh-unplayable it was so bad...>_>

Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility is fun! If you like farming~ ^^
Smash Bros is a winner.
And if you like Zelda games Twilight Princess is fun~!
My dad and I both have a great time with Harvest Moon and Zelda, he's not as big of a fan of fighting games as I am though~ But I really enjoy Smash Bros!

I did have Smash Bros. once, but I traded it in because I couldn't get into it. ;/
Twilight Princess has been on my mind for a while, but I just haven't been in the mood for that sort of game, lately. *Sighs*
How do these Xenosaga games work? Do they pick up where you left off before, with levels and such? Because I'll be fine with just the first one if it can stand on its own.

That's another I'd like to get, since I can always depend on that series. But the price hasn't been right, yet. (And the availability seems to be a bit of a challenge, too.) I'll certainly be considering it next time.
