RMP

For those of you who don't know what RMP is, it's Random Music Phenomenon. It is an affliction that my computer speakers seem to suffer from. Two months ago when I was 'rocking out' to my classical music, strange sounds started to come out of my computer speakers. I turned off my 'tunes' and listened to them, and it seemed to have people talking in some language that I couldn't understand. I unplugged the internet, and the voices still came through. Freaked out, I turned off my computer and luckily the voices stopped. I thought it was over, but since then about once a week, the voices started to crop up again and again. And it wasn't always the same. Sometimes they where conducting interviews, or other times it was commercials. It happened again today, and that is what made me actually ask someone about it. Has anything like this ever happened to anyone you know? And what advise would you have to make it stop?

(Just a side note, I put this in entertainment because it had to do with music and stuff, but if I put it in the wrong place, then by all means move it, because it isn't directly talking about music.)

I can only guess that something in your computer is somehow picking up radio waves, since the "voices" stop when the computer is off. I can't say I know much to offer any advice, though. All I know is that it's sometimes possible for certain things to become accidental receivers. However, since it's not as consistent as a radio frequency, I really have no idea how anything in your computer could become a receiver only part of the time. So it may not have anything to do with radio waves at all.

I hoped you enjoyed an uninformative response from Dr. Stupid. ^^

Do you have external speakers? It could be your speakers picking up radio signals of some kind, like Crescent Pulsar said. They'd have to be either cheap or old (or both). Most speakers these days are shielded against that.

Sounds like either
A. The speakers have managed to intercept radio waves thus making them work like a radio

B. you have a nasty spyware issue that is hijacking your computer's sound modulator.

C. You are using Internet radio/Youtube unconsciencely
