It's not a popularity contest. If it were, Nikkou would already have won. She kinda knows a lot more people than I do. I only hang with the breakfast club. You know, Tony the Tiger, that kangaroo guy from Malt-o-meal, those guys. Besides, if it were all about popularity, we wouldn't be as friendly as we are, now would we?

Eh... I may know a lot of people, but I'm not all that close to anyone. In fact, if I ever did have a popularity contest, I would expect to lose to everyone. I mean, while I think that I'm not popular (far, far from it), I also think that, if what I perceive to be reality is false, there would still be reasons for why I wouldn't be remotely close to being all that popular. Either way, if I had my way, I would prefer to stay in the shadows of nondescriptness. But, what can I say... Some people drug me out, convinced me to stay exposed, and then my penchant for babbling took hold and my fate/doom was sealed. See?

Ah, well... People can think what they want, since they do that anyway. I'm no longer surprised by what some can perceive me as being, no matter how much I indicate otherwise.

*slips a ticking time bomb on Nikkou's back with a sticky note that says "Don't disarm me!"*

I don't know who/what East of Osaka is, unless that's the series. That's the only thing that I've seen so far of the series, if that's the case. Besides, don't all captioners just add text to images, even if they're animated? I just used it for the scene, like I always do; I don't even think that anyone else bothers with anything that shows blows to the balls. So, I don't see where the cheating comes in, unless it applies to every captioner (which it probably should since I can't recall anyone from MSF using one of their own artwork; however, if I remember correctly, Sentaiga might be the only exception).

Though it's not working for me right now, you basically took that animation and music and added text to it. And despite your rationalizing it, it still seems kinda cheap to me to just add text to someone who did the rest of the editting work and music.
Your argument also doesn't work on me because I am still mostly anti-caption, the only reason I condone most of them is because the images used in most* serialized anime series are made in sweatshops by artists making next to nothing and the captioned images are probably the pinnacle of anything they'll ever be worth. If conditions weren't like that, I'd be totally anti-caption, but "luckily" they are.


* Worth mentioning that Kyo-Ani doesn't do this, almost everyone who works for them is treated royally. And lookit the results: Haruhi, Lucky Star, etc.

But you missed my point. I'm not trying to rationalize or even justify what captioners or even myself do. I was saying that cheating probably applies to everyone since our writing doesn't come close to the effort that it takes to make the images or animations (which is why I mentioned Sentaigi, whom I believe made some captions of her own artwork).

So, what I was saying is that it doesn't matter if it's someone who puts a flash movie scene together and adds music or if they create a piece of art; either we're all cheaters/cheap for adding text to something that we never made ourselves (which I am for), or we're not. I was trying to reason how you defined a cheater, not argue; I merely shared my own view as well. Hopefully, though, how I see it is more clear now.

I could draw my own images, but if you ask me that's too easy. It's more chalenging to look at a phicher and think "Ok now, how did every one end op were they are?" It's not esy or hard in the way of time and skill, but in imagenation. To draw your own picher from start to finish and make the charaters any way you want, doesn't require the imagenation needed to work from a already existing art work.

The only thing "cheep" about working from a alrady existing work is that it doesn't take as much time. But I wouldn't nessarly say it's easier. That's my 2 cents, probly shouldn't of even got involed. But I felt like I should add something.

Both Nikkou and I have resigned from the contest. So what does this mean? Beats me.

Did either of us win? No. Despite Nikkou having more votes, she loses since she withdrew. I came in at a close second, and therefore am also a loser.

Did you, the caption viewer win? No. Because we have stopped and since we are both somewhat emotionally scarred (wait, are we?) from the intellectual analysis provided, our captions will probably get better and eventually take over the world. Sucks to be you, now don't it?

Did I actually get to kill Nikkou like I wanted? No. And I was going to make it so messy too. But you won't get to see it now, will you? *sticks out tongue*

And so it's business as usual. Both of us will return to our normal, wasted lives and continue as if this never happened. And maybe, just maybe, it never really did! Happen! At all! o___O
