Elise was still nervous, but again, she was trying not to let it show. Police tended to read into things like that.... She may have been an optimist by nature, but the potential of being arrested- especially for not doing anything truly wrong- was enough to put any girl's nerves on edge. "All right," she said, making a conscious effort not to twist her skirt in her hands, "here's what happened. It's kind of long, so please bear with me. I just arrived in this city today. Genno- you know, my boyfriend- and I had just moved into our new apartment, and we were just sort of sitting on the couch when Neko came flying in through the window, a royal mess. Talking about a 'her.' We managed to get some of the trouble out of her, but she needed help, so I stayed there to do some first aid, and Genno insisted on going out to look for the troublemakers. Well, there's a fuzzy patch where I think one of them got me in the back of the neck with a tranquilizer dart and I passed out, but our next-door neighbor, who also just moved in, dropped by and found me and woke me up. When I woke up, Neko was gone. This made me worried- well, even more worried, as I was already worried about Genno, wasn't I?
"I borrowed a map from my neighbor and- okay, let me explain something to you, and I hope you don't think I'm nuts for it. I'm... what you might call a spiritualist. I can communicate, interact with, whatever you want to call it, spirits, spirit beings and their energies. There's some... abilities with that. One is called dowsing, using a crystal or rod with a map as foci to locate a person, object, what have you. I used that to spot out a likely location, and went to find them. When I did... well, Neko was nowhere, and I saw Genno in a fight on top of a building with a catgirl, and he... dissolved." She shuddered a moment, remembering how it had felt when she had feared the worst, that sinking, cold-in-the-pit-of-the-stomach sensation. "I thought they'd killed him. But... I, to cut it short, I found a paramedic who had been in the coffeeshop where I met Neko earlier- I'm sure you've heard that story from her, how her, well, new boyfriend got hurt and needed help- and said how the catgirls attacked him, I helped him because he needed it and it gave me purpose after- but then I was inside the building, and found restless spirits which I put to rest, and then decided to try to- to get in touch with Genno's spirit to- to say goodbye- and I had a vision of him in danger up on a blimp, which was... right overhead. I was frantically trying to figure out how to get up there when our mysterious robed friend, Xiao, showed up. I didn't know him, but he offered to help me via a flying staff, and I was so frantic I couldn't afford to wait. He sent me in on my own, and I found Genno, then we found Neko and Tetsuo, who had somehow gotten turned into a catgirl. All of us but Tetsuo escaped via hanggliders and crashed on- well, I guess the ex-doc's, though we didn't know it then- lawn, and Genno proved to have a bad arm, which he fixed up.
"That was where we got more info on the plan to take over the nuclear base. I guess we jumped the gun a bit, but our first thought was we had to get there fast, try to stop it ourselves before it was too late. I got shot in the leg- by their sniper, I guess- not long after arrival, and was limply hobbling around for most of what happened there. Somewhere along the line Tetsuo decided they were wrong and decided to help us defeat them, and- forgive me, it's all jumbled together right here, so much was happening and well, I was in a lot of pain and trying to keep from losing too much blood. So forgive me if the details are fuzzy. Genno got in a couple of fights, and he got into the main building before me, well, moving faster. Neko was off doing I don't know what. That was when the doc got pulled in again. See, the paramedic gave me his card after I helped him and said he owed me a favor for doing so. I knew my leg was bad off, so I gave him a call- little portable phone in my bag- and well, he couldn't comew himself, so he got in touch with the doc and sent him around. He gave me a special anaesthetic that would help me see things through to the end, and I got inside myself.
"Things got... weird then. Genno was fighting the boss. She... she stabbed him with a spear...." Another distasteful shudder at the thought. "I got so mad I- well, I-" she looked around. "Look, in my line of abilities, a girl has to be careful. I've got a specially made umbrella. One of its special features is that it has a fencing foil inside it.... I pulled that out, did my share of fighting the boss- combo of that and some energy blasts I sort of, well, improvised- and- well- this... this- demon-thing possessed Genno and continued the fight through him- I know this sounds bizarre, but I know possession when I see it, you have to believe me, my parents trained me on this since I was a little girl, I'm the only heir to their talents*- and well, the boss's suit was demolished by a blast. I exorcized the demon, helped Genno get outside, as he was doing poorly at the time, and well, you know the rest...." Her voice trailed off, and she really, really hoped they would accept this story. "I hope I wasn't too verbose or anything, but, well, there was a lot to tell.... It-" she quirked a hint of an ironic smile. "-it's been a busy day, you could say...."
*OOC: It's up to you as to whether or not anyone here has heard of the Hamiltons and their spiritual abilities. They did have a reputation, but Elise doesn't know just how widespread it may or may not be.
