On the small fishing island of Qualatai, life is peaceful and simple indeed. The island, protected from the rest of the world by a ring of violent storms and whirlpools, has been cut off from the rest of society for generations. The people are only just discovering the most rudimentary uses for electricity, and it is not even a dependable energy source as of yet. The people are content to living off of the land and sea... And when humanity combats nature, many things are discovered that were never meant to be seen by mortal eyes.
The legends of the Mermaids, an ancient race of sea-dwelling humans, have always existed within all cultures. However, most theories have been debunked by scientific evidence... Supposedly. But in a land where science doesn't exist, suspicions arise... However, most people still believe them to be a myth. However, coupled with the recent dissapearances of ny seagoers have the rumors growing, and the local government has begun to take notice...
