The armageddon scenario (concept proposal/signup)

Postby Gee-chan » Tue Dec 16, 2008 10:17 am

Hey all, I have been having this idea for a highly experimental RP.

The main difference to other RPs it would have is that it would be split into several different 'chapters' each of which is moderated by a different person who will put their own spin on it. This mod will not have a main character in the chapter but said absent character will have once existed. At the start a bone storyline will be set down, only going as far a a few set events that must happen and the story will work around(most of these events shall be revealed in the first chapter, and any that are not I shall relay to each new mod). On top of that each RP will take place over the same space of time with the same character group but it should conclude differently each time. In essence it is much like how Higurashi no Naku Koro ni works.....and will probably be just as dark given the ideas going through my head right now.

The background story is that 10 years prior there was a war, between man and what could be called Angels. They named themselves the judges of this world, decided who could live and who would be killed. When mankind struck back they decimated a large chunk of the planet, completely evaporating America, Asia and a large section of Northern Africa and Southern Europe. After doing this, the angels simply vanished without a trace, leaving the broken remnants of mankind to rebuild in fear.
At the start of the RP the mod's character, along with thousands worldwide (oddly enough, one person from each town, city or village) will disappear with only a pair of feathers left behind; one white, one black. While most people do not know this, this is a sign of the final trial of mankind, with their own kin acting as judge. After about a day, a sign of how long is left shall appear; either a horrific construct counting down the seconds until the world's end, or a divine timer to the end of suffering (it is up to you...but be prepared for something stomach turning if it is the former that happens)
Our story takes place in a small sea-side town in the north-east of England. Miles from anywhere else, the judgement of its populace has come about, and the events that unfold around them could either turn into a dream, or a nightmare. for in this time, mortal man shall become god, and decide the fate of those around him, to whatever end....

Yes, I know it is morbid and I have no idea if I will actually work out how to make it work, however I have put it here to see what sort of interest there would be (and to make sure I don't forget about it).
So, fire away. I am currently supposed to be working so I will make a character in a bit.

....or as was said in a Sci-Fi I was recently watching:
"Oh great, another one of your plans."

"What's wrong with my plans?"

"they never, ever work!"

Sounds interesting.

Is there going to be any overarching connections between chapters, or is it just going to be repeating the same events over and over again?
Hmm.... Does anyone actually read these anyway?

Well, the plan is that while we will be re-enacting the same few days, each one will end up different because the details and methods that the set events are don will be done differently each time. At the end there will be a final arc which will be based upon how each chapter ended and will be a conclusion thought up as a group effort. Very possibly in later arcs there will be knock-on effects from previous attempts especially as it gets later into the chapter and the angels' judgement grows closer.

Yeah, it sounds confusing and I will have to do a lot of thought on it on exactly how to make it work, but rest assured, I'm working on it......on second thoughts, get out while you still can!

Hmm...this sounds rather interesting. So its sorta like how Odin Sphere story flows, with each section telling a different character/group's side of the story?

0in a way...sort of. I'm still working on a base timeline for 'gods' to work around so I will update this thread when I have come up with something non-specific to my turn (beware...it may end up gruesome)
