OOC: Yes, I know that this is under hiatus, but I shall be continuing my story until it comes to a point where interaction is needed. When ti doe I may try to jump-start this RP and see how it goes....
The tests were many in their number but thorough in their purpose; blood sample, tissue sample, stem cell sample, x-ray, eye and hearing test, pretty much everything you could do in a normal hospital. There were a couple more samples they wanted to take but Casey drew the line at bone and cartilage extractions being performed. As it was he was going to ache from the various bits they took but he was in an oddly co-operative mood.
Beside him through the whole thing was Serene, smirking at him as they stuck needles and things into his flesh....basically being the same as normal.
Outside, Absol, Kate, Tina and Chloe stood together conversing among themselves.
"....After we got safely away from the base and found shelter we tried to make contact with HQ while binding Jo as tightly as we could. We didn't know what her mental state was at the time, for all we knew the sudden slip in her control could have worn off completely by then and the last thing we wanted was a dangerous hybrid we didn't want to harm attacking us." Kate had been speaking for a while, recounting all that had happened since they had parted so long ago. "We had no luck contacting the base, we had been expecting it but our communication identification codes had been disabled as we left so we were on our own."
"We wandered for days after that, trying not to draw too much attention to ourselves which was a hard task as we were going around with a tightly bound hybrid woman with us. Eventually we came to a deserted and derelict house in the Johto countryside where we lay low for another three days. During this Jo time woke up in much confusion and in a sorry state. We had managed to keep her hydrated while she slept but we were still unable to get her to eat until that time. To our relief it seemed that she was back to her old self, in mind at any rate. Even though we lessened her restraints we kept her bound until we were sure."
"After another 2 weeks of wandering we came across a group of hybrids who approached us. Obviously we readied ourselves our a confrontation but it turned out that these hybrids were of a pocket of resistance who had been standing against The Master. They told us of his attempt to lay siege on some sort of god and that he had been destroyed in the battle...as had the god. They also told us of Aiko's alleged ascension and that two of the company that had entered had since vanished."
"We journeyed with these hybrids for over a month before a signal was heard on our communicators drawing us to the Indigo Plateo. We met this signal alone to find many of our old number, those who had chosen to leave hiding underground with the hope of actively doing something against the growing threat of hybrids against mankind. Using one of Rocket's cover identities and some funds tied up in reserve we set ourselves up to become the founding form of what we are now. Of those who had come to join us most of our most talented and inspired researchers had come, along with many skilled combatants and diplomats who became the backbone to our operations."
"It was not long before we made contact with the resistance again, under the leadership of the somehow returned Professor Palm. They told us of the current state of the hybrids and the seeds of conflict which had sewn themselves among their ranks. They also gave us much information on the hybrid serum in the hopes of us aiding is other in the search of a cure. During this exchange, Jo talked at lengths with the Professor. We do not know of what but after a year of rapid progress in both self-defence methods and a better understanding of the serum, she decided that she wished the leave us, and go work with the professor. My best guess is that she decided that she wanted to go out into the world and actively help those who had been changed against their will in the climate of conflict that was rife at that time. She maintained contact for a time, but that slowly faded over the years."
"It was a month after Jo left that the real chaos broke out. Seeing what was happening out there we decided that we could not stay in private. We had developed combat uniforms and it was from them and mission of preservation that we derived our name; The Grey Rangers. Our success was limited, but we managed to at least help those caught in the crossfire. We have continued in such a manner, developing new techniques to protect ourselves all the while our number grew as those we aided asked to join us, all the while searching in vein for a usable cure or at least a vaccine. We have found others such as this boy who were immune to the change. Of four such examples, two are dead, one other is in that room being tested and the other we have lost sight of. This boy is, by far, the only good lead we have had, the other three were highly sick; one was suffering from a sort of rapid cell degeneration and his body slowly shut down, another from blood poisoning and the third suffered from an unusual from of sickle-cell anaemia. From what we can tell the serum is rather sensitive to abnormalities in the body's cells and if they are unusual then the serum will not activate."
"We search a long time for the pair of you. However, it seemed you had vanished or simply did not want to be found. We did hear rumours of a travelling hybrid girl of Absol descent wandering the lands with a child in tow but given that we had not heard of any child in relation to either of you we paid it little mind. It is ironic really that you were under our noses all this time. but as for you, Tina, we heard nothing of you. Where did you go? Where have you been hiding all these years?"
"I left this world" said Tina, "I had no choice but to dwell outside the borders of this level of reality. I was chosen to act as guardian for both the spectral and the astral plains as their existing defenders moved on. Although I have borne such a burden for all this time, I feel it is quite apparent that I am little more than a steward, waiting for the real guardian to appear." Her eyes turned to the ground, "I can't stay here much longer. I am already breaking apart and it is only a matter of time before I finally give way."
Outside, many shapes were moving, taking positions all around the hospital, leaving no route for escape.......
