The portrait tilts a bit more... then drops to the floor with a loud clatter. More than that, part of the wall comes loose with it! A cloud of dust billows out, enshrouding Rodmart's world in a grey haze. It takes minutes for the dust to settle, but then the man finds himself standing in front of a gaping hole in the wall. A tunnel leads away perpendicular to the corridor he's currently standing in.

After the loud roar, whatever causes the sound seemed to have fallen silent. Nothing prevents him from falling asleep now... and his body is crying out to do just that. Almost against his will (or is it?) his eyes fall closed. There is darkness... then he finds himself sitting upright in the bed he laid down in, wide awake. He is kept warm by thick, lush covers, and a feathery pillow is dented where his head presumably lay. The room itself has similarly changed: all the rotted furniture has returned to its prime state. An ornate vanity stands against the wall, next to a heavy wooden closet, polished brown wood glistening in the light of a single candle sitting on a small bedside table.

The stairs creak ominously as she sets foot on them. Still, somehow they manage to bear her weight. Slowly and carefully she makes her way down, round and round and round the edge of the abyss. Except the fact that her starting point gradually disappears from view the lower she gets, the view remains almost exactly the same.
