"I.. think you need to clarify.... As soon as I check something, anyway...." More specifically, who had seemed to walk through the wall of her third-floor apartment.... Releasing his shoulders, she slowly turned to look, trying not to show her trepidation. This silky nightgown was really not a good garment to be wearing when you might have to fight someone....

Have you ever felt close to death? The feeling of just narrowly missing certain death that leaves you body all cold, clammy and shaken from the adrenaline rush? That's probably the best feeling that could describe seeing a slightly out of place person that is present in the living room, wearing a red cloak with black trim which isn't really that special.
As Guen enters room the figure turns to look at her, no distinguishing features other than the eerie blue glow of where the eyes would be in a normal person are visible in the dark though she gets the feeling that the mysterious person is female.

The woman asks in a sort of monotonal voice.

Where is he?

This was... freaky. Beyond freaky and out the other side.... But Guen was angry. No faceless robe was going to invade her apartment willy-nilly! She folded her arms, expression set. "Who are you, and what in blazes are you doing in my apartment without being invited?"

I am what some desire and what most strive to avoid, you may call me "Death" if you must.

"Death" turns her body to face Guen.

Now, where is he? I know Jack is here. "Death" says this again in a monotone voice but it seems rather impatient as she says this.

Great. A stalker with illusions of divinity.... "What do you want with him?" she asked, not budging. She was not giving her Jack over to this crazy lady without an argument.

"Death" casually walks over to the fallen hourglass from earlier and picks it up, studying the contents it seems.

So, he didn't tell you then? How nice of him, he didn't want you to be sad for him when he leaves.

Jack meanwhile takes a seat in the kitchen and rests his elbows on the table as he listens to the conversation in the living room.

Tell her?... She followed into the kitchen. Now it was time to look to Jack. "Explain to me what's going on now, before she-" a thumb jerked towards the robed figure- "tries to drag you off somewhere." Things were getting freaky again.

Looking back at Guen, Jack clearly looks like he got his fingers caught in the cookie jar and just realised he has been caught red handed.
With a sigh he stands up and turns around to face her with his ears folded back on his head and his dropped tail.

I'm sorry, Guen. I was going to tell you in a few days but it seems my "holiday" has come to an end. You know when I told you I was dead? Well, I am.

"Dead? I find that hard to believe, seeing as your heart was pounding quite noticeably earlier today." Cuddling with someone after kissing them led you to notice that. "So tell me the story. Now. Not later, like you planned." Yup, she was mad, all right. At who, at this point, it was hard to tell.

Jack sighs.
This may seem odd but I actually got killed in a fatal accident at my workplace a few years ago, hard to believe isn't it when you've seen me and felt me, isn't it?
A slight chuckle but it immediately falls flat given the situation at the moment.
So, I've basically been in limbo till I finally found a way back to the world of the living for a brief period which was in my case, a month.
A month which is quickly coming to a close this very night unfortunately...

"And when did you plan to tell me? At all? Or were you just going to disappear one day and leave me wondering for the rest of my life where you'd gone, what I did, what went wrong?!" That seemed to be the most upsetting thing of all. "And if you foud your way back here, how come it's not permanent? And can be done to make it permanent?"

Jack winces a little at Guen's fury though she does have a right to be angry at him.

I was going to tell you in a couple of days... I honestly though I had a week left. That's why I felt bad about having you buy things for me. As for a way of making it permanent... A sad sigh. I don't think it's possible.

And you'd be right.

No sooner as this is said but "Death" appears right behind Jack, startling the poor guy quite a bit.

Poor Jack, I suspect you didn't expect to meet someone whilst vacationing away from the afterlife, were you? Still, it's not like you'll be going anywhere bad, it just means that you two will most likely never see each other again.

"Wait, wait, wait just a second here! There are rules to this sort of exchange, you know. Challenges. So I challenge you. If I win... he stays." Her hands plopped on her hips, stance obstinate. This was proabbly not a good idea- these things always had a catch, in the stories- but she just couldn't help herself....

To Guen, the "Death" seems to lean its head to the left in curiosity.

A challenge? What do you expect? A game of chess to win him back perhaps? Unfortunately for you. "Death" holds out the strange hourlgass that she took earlier. It's a deal he made for himself, if you love him that much then I suggest you say what you need to now, he has approximately 10 minutes left on this plane of existen-.

The hourglass is snatched out of the air rather quickly by a an irritated Jack, surprising "Death" a little though she doesn't show it. I'll give her permission to challenge you in my place...

Jack looks back at Guen and winks. I'll never forget your kindness, win or lose at whatever "she" has in store.

She looked at him for a moment. "In that case, let me give you something else you'll never forget," she said. Then she stood right in front of him, reaching up to take his face in her hands. Then she drew his head down to give him, a long, lingering, and above all deep kiss.
