The new tactic seems to be more effective. Most of the hungry cloth comes off. Of course, the sweater has to be sacrificed in the process. As John drops it to the floor, it is slowly consumed, and only a... strange glove is left in its place? The few bits of coth left on the man's hand slowly fade away... leaving his hand behind smooth and hairless, and looking subtly different from the other.

Breathing deeply he grabbed another stick tentatively poking the glove with it to make sure it wouldn't do anything else strange "note to self... poke everything here with a stick first..." he said chidingly to himself wondering when the hell he stepped into the twilight zone.

In the vanity, his reflection looks back innocently. A bit shorter than he is, with long, silky brown hair, done up in a braid, twisted elaborately around itself. Gentle curves and a luscious bossom are contained in a demure, black maid's uniform... Wait, aren't reflections supposed to reflect.. well, oneself?

Mike started at the mirror for a bit longer and was dumbfounded by the reflection. MIke slowly picked up the braid.

"What is going on?" asked Mike as with the other hand running up the curves of the maid outfit and to the top where the bosom are at to give a light squeeze to see if they were real. "This can't be me. No way."

"Look" said Jace pointing at the statue. "Its a fake!"
"Let me confirm, your shelter shield is activated?"
"What are you planning?!"
"Your shelter is secure, is it?"
"Of course it is! Just see for yourself how powerless you are!"
"...Roger that."

Simon placed a hand over his mouth to prevent himself from inhaling any more dust. Figuring he should check if the books were in good condition before taking them to sell to some antiques dealer, he pulls the album of children's stories off the shelf and begins reading it.

~Gina~

The further down Gina she goes, the sturdier the stairs seem to become and her pace increases. Just as she has reached something approaching normal walking tempo there's a soft rustle in the air... followed by a loud snap. The stairs groan complainingly and Gina finds herself knocked to her feet as a tremor courses through the wooden structure. Then, from high above her in the dark a soft rumbling reaches the woman's ears. Like the distant sound of wood splintering and being crushed...

Gina gave off a loud shriek at the sudden event, and held onto anything she could grab so as to not suddenly fall over the edge of the stairs. Once it stopped, she breathed heavily as she turned her head to look around, wondering if that was it. A moment later, she heard the strange noise and started to worry. "I don't like the sound of that." She whispered, deciding to get back to her feet and hurry down the steps instead of waiting to see what was happening.

The creature remains quite motionless. However, closer inspection reveals that it's not a creature at all! It's a statue... but boy, did whoever made it put effort into making it look lifelike!

"Huh...really?" Jason said, slowly stepping in, taking a closer look. "Huh...I guess you're right..." He says, poking the statue's head.

The room appears to be a dining room. Long, wooden tables (or the remains of some, at least) dominate the room, all flanked on both sides by broken and rotted chairs. In the center of the room a massive chandelier hangs from the ceiling. This seem to be the only intact piece of furniture present. Small gems glitter from the moonlight that shines through the bayed windows to Marcus' left.

The man's eyes sweep over the room with the jerky speed of paranoia, and fix, for a moment, on rather incongruous the chandelier hanging above. Only for a moment, though--it was odd and all, but he'd spotted something more important then that in the room...the windows!

Wasting no more time, Marcus makes a rush for the windows. Hesitating only for a moment, he brings his suitcase back, and then slams it into one, trying to smash it open! No time to fiddle with latches or locks...

Jace lets out a sigh of releaf. "Man... whoever made this statue is a pro... Wait a sec. If the monster isn't real... What made those sounds earlier?"

"I...honestly have no idea..." Jason said, glancing around the rest of the room and back to the way they came.

~Rodmart~

Soon enough, Rodmarts finds himself completely encased in darkness, save for the small, wavering light from the flame. Soon however, even that is extinguished by a soft flutter in the air...

~Angela~

The woman shakingly makes her way out of the cell. For some reason, she finds all sorts of objects in her path that weren't there before. Loose rocks, piles of ruble... it's all she can do not to stumble and fall, while each sudden movement makes the statue crumble some more...

~John~

The glove... doesn't attack the stick. It just sits there, like a perfectly normal, well-mannered glove.

~Mike~

Mike finds... no braid at his back. Nor any breasts. And definitely no bossom either. However, as he makes the motions, looking quite silly in their own, the woman in mirror copies them, blushing faintly as she feels her ample bossom with apparent pride.

~Reyes~

And... he hits the water below. Deep down he goes...

~Jim~

No such thing, unfortunately. Besides, the whole castle looks way too dusty for phones to have been invented by the time the last duster came along. The only sound is that of the echo of his voice...

~Simon~

As he takes it off the shelf, it comes apart in a second billowing cloud of dust. Though it doesn't get on into his mouth, it makes his skin tingle everywhere it touches.

~Gina~

Hurrying was probably the wiser action, even if it did make the stairs creak suspiciously under her steps. She can see debris rain down from above, and hear it clattering against the stairs several stories up. The sound is getting closer however.

~Marcus~

The instant the suitcase hits the windows, a loud shattering noise bursts forth - and his suitcase practically explodes in his hands. The unsuspecting man is thrown back by the force of the blow, coming to a halt against the leg of a table several yards away, bruised all over. Oddly enough, he finds himself straight below the chandelier...

~Jace + Jason~

At Jason's poke, the statue's head comes loose and shatters on the floor...

Keeping a eye on the glove John slowly backed towards the door before slowly opening it just enough to peek through. All the while mumbling under his breath about what Brian Boitano would do, his peeking was to make sure there no other odd surprises awaited him behind the door.

Jace laughs. "Don't worry, he won't bite" he says as he checks in inside of the statue.
