(I just decided to go there because it seemed fitting for a geek/otaku type.... If you want, I can veer off in another direction and safe the restaurant visit until later, though.)

Maria took a deep breath as she exited the building. Ah, yes, this was nice.... The fresh air felt good, ruffling her fine, pale hair. She walked briskly towards the restaurant stretch. Several tantalizing smells wafted her way. An Italian place, an Indian take-away, an old-fashioned burger joint.... The scents all mingled, floating along to tempt the nose of a hungry passer-by. The people who built this stretch knew what they were doing, putting it so close to the office sector.

Brillton continues to shift through the papers sighing. He leans back thinking about the fight he had with his mom she wanted him to find another job besides his 9 to 5 work at a local restaurant. He has no problem finding them but the interviews don't go to well. He turns his attention to his empty bowl of chili and looks for Edward.

(You must be having regular chilli Kumi. Considering I never said what Reject Chilli actually is. It's an actual dish I cook at home many times.)

Edward, unfortantly now being without any help was keeping him rather busy. He was currently running the cash register to take care of a few customers that had just walked in.

"I'm going to have to look for additonal help tomorrow," He thought to himself.

(Don't apply for a job just yet people. The times not right)

(I'm fine just chillin' out on my park bench, thank you very much. I figure there will be plenty of interaction when the time is right.)

Ray pulls out an apple and takes a juicy bite out of it. It really was a pleasant day outside, and he was content to simply enjoy the sun on his face. Granted, he would feel it later when he'd have his next breakout, but it was still nice. He sighed and took another bite. It'd be nice if he didn't have to mess around with acne any more. Then girls might notice him sometimes. If he wasn't covered in motor oil, that is.

A breeze ruffled the trees in the park on the opposite side of the road. A few people walked through or sat on benches, some reading, some eating, some just looking at nature. It really was a nice day....
Maria pushed open the door of the cafe. It looked pretty busy. Of course, it was fairly new. Maria's eyes widened at the decor. It looked so... so... Japanese.... Her otaku self started squealing. Internally, that is. She had enough presence of mind- and self-consciousness- to not squeal for real. But this was perfect! Why hadn't she come here before?...
She looked around, still wide-eyed. The gentleman with the broom must be the proprietor. No sign of the waitress in the ad, but she may be on break, or for that matter, just a model. Pity- Maria never had the shape for a cute outfit like that, but she could live vicariously through those who did. Right? She fidgeted a bit, adjusting her tote bag as she waited to be seated.

Edward hurried up to the new arrival and greeted her with one of his warm smiles.

"Hello! Sorry it took so long to seat you, it's just me working today, please feel free to choose any of the unoccupied booths, and I'll be around to take your order shortly! The specail for today is Reject Chilli!"

With that he excused himself and ran into the back real quick. He'd have to close the shop down for an hour or two after lunch break was over. It was way to much to do this all himself!

[Kumi-chan]

Brillton looks around sighing. "Sandra would be around by now... but seems it suddenly got busy maybe I should just pay and leave then." He decides to wait a bit longer looking over some papers trying to determine where he hasn't tried yet.

[Melkorios]

Melanie sat down at a table, looking through the menu. Her ears perk up at Edward's trouble. "Uhh.... Mr... Edward, was it? Anyway.... if you would like, I.... ummm.... I could help around the restaurant." It appeared that she was very shy.

(How do you HAVE your own wireless? I'm not sure that's possible...)

(When you have your own USB wireless extender, anything is possible)

Mike finds a seat and opens his laptop, absentmindedly checking the menu for good measure, uttering the occasional, "Mm, that looks good," then looking back at his screen and typing again. He repeats this ritual several times.

"Thank you much, sir!" Maria made her way over to a nearby booth, settling. Pity the poor guy seemed understaffed. His waitress must have quit, then.... I got any friends who need a job?... Well, think more onb lunch, now. Reject Chili- sounded like something one of her college roommates would have dreamed up at midnight, after a little too much "fun" out with friends. She picked up a menu, perusing it.

The weather was amazing today. The sun was out and brightly shining; mostly clear skies, just a few clouds dotting the heavens; and the temperature was nice and warm; absolutely perfect conditions for football.

"DOWN!.... SET!.... HUT!" Like a well oiled machine, the players put themselves into motion. They weren't in uniform, most of them just wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Obviously this wasn't any sort of formal match. Jon never thought of it that way though, always taking each match as seriously as a championship game. Sure, he always had fun and did his best to make sure others did also, but this was the one area that he took with absolute seriousness. Football was his business, and he made a point of doing it well.

As the quarterback handed him the ball, the adrenaline pumped through his veins. Pushing his legs for all they were worth, he darted ahead. Oncoming defenders found their paths suddenly obstructed by Jon's blockers as he speed forward in an successfully executed play. With all his might he sped toward his ultimate goal, the endzone. "TOUCHDOWN!!!"

Catching his breath, the brown haired teen smiled towards his friend on the other team. "Good game Shaun," he said brightly, still breathing a bit heavy. "Yup," answered the other boy, smiling back towards his friend, "Good game." Walking over to Jon and giving him a playful nudge he added, "But man, was that some run you pulled off on us at the end! What was that, like thirty yards?" "Something like that," Jon replied, still smiling as brightly as ever.

Melanie sat down at a table, looking through the menu. Her ears perk up at Edward's trouble. "Uhh.... Mr... Edward, was it? Anyway.... if you would like, I.... ummm.... I could help around the restaurant." It appeared that she was very shy.

"Can you start right now?" Edward laughed while trying to refill a customers soda, AND get back to the kitchen to get another order.

"I kid! I kid!" He added however, before she'd have time to answer. His voice and laugher came across very warmly, calming anyone who would have heard it, and hopefully put the girl at ease. Least that was Edward's plan.

"If you're serious, come around tomorrow morning, and I'll see about getting you started here. Always nice to have some as nice as you around the place!"

He gave her one last warm smile, before rushing off agian.

Ray looked at his watch. "It's about that time," he said. He reluctantly stood up and made the walk back to the Silver Hammer. After depositing his lunch box, he grabbed the key and paperwork for the Nissan pickup in the lot. A garage was open, so he went out and started the truck. With a horrible grating noise he moved the truck and set to work.
"Front and rear axle replacement, plus a transmission flush. Great, I'm gonna be at this all day."

Maria perused the menu. Hmm, there was a lot of Japanese food on the menu. Well, that was a favorite of hers, but that was no problem.... The yakisoba sounds good. Maybe with chicken.... Yeah, that was appealing. And maybe a bubble tea, if they had any?... It was weird, she knew, but she just loved those great big tapioca balls that floated in it.
Well, the poor manager looked rushed off his feet, right now. Maria wouldn't pester him. She carefully set her menu aside to show she was ready to order, and waited for him to have a moment to come take it.
