The Lake of Blood

[Teddy]

"Oh, this must be my lucky day." Keeping his katana in it's sheath, Frey approached the fish-men, then launched a 'draw out' when they both were in range.

[Empusa Sesshi]

This next pair look just as pathetic, and are just as easy to dispatch, leaving the boat all yours.

[Teddy]

"Now, to see what certain death awaits me in this isle." Frey rowed the boat across the lake of blood, looking alert, as he another side to defend when going across water.

[Empusa Sesshi]

Nothing horrible leaps out of the 'water' at you. The island is rather small, no more then a mile all the way around. It's almost completely flat, save a small copse of trees which seems to hold a small structure.

[Teddy]

Frey, curiousity and hunger pains destroying his common sense, approached the structure, fingers playing with the hilt of his blade.

[Empusa Sesshi]

The small building appears to be a shrine of some sort. Scattered about the floor of it are what appear to be er...the flesh of humans. Almost like The skin was just peeled off like a suit.

[Teddy]

"Oh, how attractive." He looked around the shrine, looking for inhabitants, survivors, anything besides the flesh.

[Empusa Sesshi]

As the young samurai noses about the shrine, he feels perhaps a bit itchy. A gurgling voice from behind sounds..."Poor lad..."

[Teddy]

"Oh, damn it." Frey whirled around, katana drawn. "Who in the nine hells are you!?"

[Empusa Sesshi]

You see a creature, hard to tell if it's a man or woman. The hands and feet are webbed, it's skin is a sickly green color. Eyes oddly enlarged, as is it's mouth. "Me? I was the shrine priestess..."

[Teddy]

"...Was? What are you talking about?" Frey was slightly nervous, with the whole, skin itching thing.

[Empusa Sesshi]

It nods, it sucks in a deep breath, slits at it's neck flaring. "Yes was...am still I suppose...for what it matters...my people now lay beneath the waters..."

[Teddy]

"Ah, so your people are those fish things wandering about. How'd you end up like that?"

[Empusa Sesshi]

She labors for breath a few times again. "Angered our god...now all who desecrate the shrine are cursed."

[Teddy]

"Well then. I'm going to be going now. I don't need anymore curses... The one put on me by fate is enough." And with that, Frey started going out of the small building, going back to his boat.
