( Yup. Coming back to this after three months' absence. I'm shooting for roughly weekly updates. )
~Jason + Jace~
Jace's foot hooks behind something underneath the dust. A dull metallic thump tells him whatever is below the dust is something heavy and metal.
~Reyes~
As Reyes dives underneath the surface, the source of the light comes into view. Two small orbs at the base of
a small statue shine brightly. The statue is some ways below the surface, though within diving depth of your average swimmer.
~Rodmark~
Something soft and warm drops onto his head. A small something that wriggles around vigorously, grabbing hold onto his hair and skin with tiny little claws. Scrambling around his head, it leaves light but painful scratches as it moves.
~John~
The silence continues as oppressive as before while he makes his way through the abandoned corridors. More closed doors with every step. After several minutes, a very faint sound reaches John's ears. It sounds like... a cat scatching a door?
~Simon~
You'd think people would learn their lessons after two failures. After the previous two books turned to dust, this one obviously remains intact, with barely any dust coming from between the pages. The story is a heartwrenching tale of a maiden locked in a castle by her evil stepmom. It brings tears to Simon's eyes - or is that the dust afterall? Through the tears, he might notice a bit of paper sticking out from between the pages in the middle. A bookmark?
~Mike~
The maid's curious expression is positively adorable. As he leans closer, Mike realizes her eyes are a warm brown, radiating energy, love, and devotion to her work. Her lips mimic his question, though the mostly imagined question he hears sounds oddly like... 'have you found the statue?' Statue? What's that got to do with anything?
~Angela~
The statue crumbles into nothing but dust as it hits the floor with a loud, heavy thump, sending a tremor through the floor. Wait, that statue that size shouldn't be that heavy, should it? A sense of foreboding settles over the woman, noticable even in her intoxicated state.
~Gina~
As bits and pieces of the stairs she ran down only moments ago rain down onto her head, Gina reaches the ground floor! It is littered with pieces of fallen debris, which is still coming down. at the far side of the room she notices a door. Can she make it across?
~Marcus~
Marcus' world comes to an end with an eardrum-shattering crash of expensive crystal onto the stone floor. Words flash through his mind: 'BAD END!' It's all over, and his vision goes black...
...
Or not? When he finally comes to, the chandelier lays shattered at his feet, bits and pieces scattered across the floor. One bit seems lodged into his arm, causing a searing, throbbing pain as the anesthetic of adrinaline wears off.
~Jim~
Or, does he? Jim hits the wall where the door used to be. What the?
~James~
James has just entered a small cave-like room. A small pedistal is illuminated by a beam of light coming from a large, opening high in the far wall.
