The sword strikes true... piercing the Demoness as she shrieks, beginning to dissolve in the white light. Soon she burns away... seemingly only her staff remaining. But then from the ashes, a small mote of purple light seeps out... floating away lazily, not having enough energy to flee at speed.

The second arrow slows the demon enough to allow him to draw! Soon sword and claw meet in a shower of sparks!

Ginny looked as if the battle of wills with the seductress had taken a lot out of her, seeming weary as she pulled her sword from the ashes, and swung it through the air, scattering any specks that had clung to her blade, before sheathing it at her side. Turning, she nodded her head at Peter, "Good work... ", she said, crossing the sand to pick up the giant shield and fix it onto her back, drawing several deep breaths as she looked around the arena, unable to shake the mental image of the Boar Lady from her mind.

She muttered under her breath, touching the sun emblem on her breastplate before she begins climbing the steps into the crowd, and then starts pointing at demons with her gauntlet-covered hands, calling down forks of brilliant white lightning onto the demons.

Peter was on his knees at this point, though only slightly out of breath. He nods slightly to Ginny, still clutching his bleeding temple. He doesn't speak.

James realised he had escaped the attention of the demons and planned to keep it that way. He made no move to attack them.

Trey's eyes widened as the demon's other claw scratched deeply into his breastplate, slicing very slightly into his underleather. No blow had ever pierced his steel defense. With a determined push, he heaved with his shield to break the demon's balance and slash once more at the demon's exposed flanks.

Gregor pointed back into the arena, gawking slightly at the sudden change in weather "He was one of the champions in the arena Sir."

((I'll be moving out this week Knight, so if you could kind of run my character should there be action required. Assume he'd be knightly and defensive.))

-CLANG!-

Assuming the boar-demon remains with the loss of its mistress, the musclebound fellow holds the beast at bay for a moment, sword against claw...and then pushes it forward with a surge of strength that seems to be almost improbable! In fact, he seems to actually pull away from it a moment before it is pressed backwards...but before any real attention can be given to that he advances quickly in an attempt to skewer it!

The Demons are crisped by lightning! Some of the ones previously damaged by the guards go down, twitching. Others rise back up, glaring at her while they smolder... then charge!

Ginny hears a faint sound of laughter... then an enchanting voice she wont soon forget. "I'll see you again... my sweet Paladin. And repay your kindnesses given to me today." The purple light flits around her head, then flies up into the black sky and vanishes.

Peter and James find themselves in a area of calm amidst the battle. The red demons seem more interested in moving prey, and there are plenty more 'heroes' to prey on. The scene is one of carnage... aspiring heroes and sellswords being gutted and torn to pieces by the demonic forces.

Trey lashes again at the demon! Savage it was, delicate it was not. It loses its balance, Trey's sword cutting into it. With a bellow of frustrated rage it topples over on its back.

The hooded man glances back to the arena, thinking. "It would be best if you did not go back for him. Doubtless he would want you safe during this." Looking back to the squire. "Do you have a place to stay?"

The goblin demon (not boar XD) is pushed backwards with the strength of improbableness! Recovering, it charges right into the sword... impaling itself. This dosent seem to slow it down much, as it swipes a claw at his face, snarling! No doubt it would bleed out, but while it still had life it was determined to turn the warrior into hash.

Just as the situation seems dire, a horn sounds! The gates of the arena open, revealing the garrison of the Emperor's Legion stationed at Overwatch! With a battle cry, the men charge forward, pressing towards the royal box. Their plate armor is black as midnight, speckled with silver stars, the official sigil of the Empire. It is said there is a star for every province. They wield no shields, but all carry two handed greatswords, the silvery blades glittering like starfire.

Ginny, exhausted from her battle with the demon, tries to bring down the lightning faster as the demons charged at her, but there were too many for her in her weakened state. She staggered backwards as they ran at her, drawing her sword, slicing through one or two before being overwhelmed. One struck her chest, knocking her backwards off the ledge of the seating, and she fell before crashing onto her back in the sand, the wind being knocked from her lungs, dazing her as she heard the horn blaring... her cheeks going red as she heard that voice inside her head, and gasped as the purple light hovered right above her face... her blue eyes struggling to focus, before she let out a groan as it rose away from her.

Several demons leapt down from the stands to surround her, but one took a blast of holy light straight to the face, and another got a kick in the chest as it got too close. She rolled up into a crouch, pulling out her shield, and then let out a yell, charging at a demon, smashing it with her shield before spinning and driving her shield through the chest of another. She lacked her usual grace, and seemed to be exerting the very last of her energy to try and finish of the demons in one final flurry, hacking and slashing and spinning and bashing until they'd all been slain.

Peter groans as he climbs back to his feet, still clutching his head. He puts his crossbow away and equips his longbow again, aiming and firing at anything glowing and red he can see through his slightly blurred vision.

He's still accurate, but his rate of fire is lacking.

(err.. sorry just haven't really been paying to much attention to the rp's...)

Victor though somewhat surprised by the situation, at the same point had been in so many of these situations that he easily hid his despite wearing the purest of white, he seemingly faded into the shadows to avoid attention.

Noting that the tide was turning with the introduction of the fresh soldiers he unleashed the healing pray that he had been casting... opening his hand a glowing orb of light emerged from it showering the chamber. As the chant had been extended the power of it likewise increased greatly, transforming it from an ordinary healing spell to a minor divine blessing that would mend moderate level wounds, purify poisons, and revitalize all touched by the light. The wards he had placed earlier throughout the grounds also shimmering with the same light each disbursing as there power was used up.

The definitely-not-a-boar demon strikes! Its claw hits Onín in the chest...and bounces off! The man himself seems slightly put off at it still moving around (And well, trying to brutally ill him), but he recovers after a moment, and yanks on his blade, trying to cut up and through the creature! If he notices the shiny-bladed newcomers he seems to care little at the moment...

Jibril briefly wonders how such a unit deals with arrows.. or cavalry really it seems like an odd setup.. but then gets back to looking for those who might need his aid*

Noticing the demons charge, Francis begins to chant again, as sphere of light begins to circle the floor under the beast following its moments. The creatures speed proved to be to greater than the priest expected, as upon nearing completion of the circle Francis ended his chant and started to run, in hopes of gaining enough distance to try again, almost too distracted to notice the overwatchs timely arrival.

((Sorry about the delays... been feeling meh lately, also sad that Brnin8r is going MIA.))

Just as it seems she is going to be overrun, the Legion surrounds her as she finally collapses, corpses of demons around her. One of them looking down as the rest press on to the royalty. His eyes behind the midnight visor are not unkind, as he offers her a hand. "Nice work."

Several more demons get bolts sprouting from them, before the Legion sweeps past him, obscuring his view. They seem to ignore the rogue, and focus on the rest of the demons. At least he is safe?

Everyone who is battle-weary and near death gets healed! Many of the minor heroes are saved, and either retreat once the Legion appears, or aid them in the final press!

Blaze wrote:James watched the Legion come in and breathed a sigh of relief.

And it seems they will! They clash with the demons, slicing arms, legs, heads... even slicing them in half! While their midnight armor seems to shrug off their demonic claws.

The nottaboar is sliced lengthwise! Giving a last choked snarl before collapsing to the ground, dead.

Jibril might recall (or not, considering he is a stranger to these parts) that the Legion is tasked with keeping the Emperor's peace in the city of Overwatch. As such they are kind of like fancy city guards... and what city guard expects to fight archers and cavalry from inside a city?

As for those needing his aid, he could either jump into the stands to assist the very Legion who's competence he questioned, or remain in the Arena. The Arena seems to need the most help, as most of the Legion is in the stands rescuing the citizens and pushing towards the royal box to secure the princess and king.

The battle is turning in their favor, certainly... but the demon after him is single-minded. Jaws slavering, it almost lopes after him on all fours... wanting nothing more than to eviscerate him.
