Seeing the rockets being fired at the base he lifted off from earlier, he wanted to fire at the goggled men so bad. But the gun still needed warming up. He lets the barrels spin for a bit longer. Seconds later, the warm-up was complete. From his vantage point, he aims his gun downward towards the invading squadron and fires at them!

Brnin8r wrote:All the boys, shocked from the same blast, began to obey Surge's orders; though the confusion was making it much harder than it could have been. The boys bumped left and right trying to get to their makeshift posts. Seeing as the base hadn't been properly finished, there weren't really steady positions to take. Most boys ill-fitted ran to the back storage room to grab their rifles and armor while the rest who were already on patrol began crouching, lying prone, or hugging a wall; aimed outside.

The men from the pod at the bottom of the crater began firing at the walls of the warehouse, the weak, outer shell being pelted by...bullets! Real, live ammunition began pelting through the concrete of the constructed base, but with no boy in sight, there were no immediate fatalaties. Anyone looking would see that they also had an odd second barrel that was lit up red like their goggles.

((Soooorry, late again x_x ))
Surge feel to the ground in a proned postion peeking out the side of a box. "EVERYONE, DOWN! Take cover! Concentrate on individual targets!" he shouted out loud as he started firing back at the pod people. He was confused by the strange people. They sort of human, but they looked odd. At this moment Surge was cursing to himself. If he only had a grenade with him, he'd take care of them in a moment. Unfortunately he could only hope his fellow comrades did something.
"Let me confirm, your shelter shield is activated?"
"What are you planning?!"

Charlotte wrestled with her large rifle, curling her smaller hands around it to aim forward, although she was having serious doubts she'd be able to fire it without being thrown off her feet by the recoil. Glancing up at the walls of the girl's base, she sighed. If she ran now, they might never find her. She could escape from a girl base, something she'd never heard of being done before, but just the idea gave her an uneasy feeling in her tummy. The thought of making the Hierarch and Mary Anne unhappy actually made her feel physically sick.

Walking foward, she wrinkled her nose at the feeling of her soaked through clothing, her mary janes and little white socks squelching with each step. She found herself thinking how pretty the splash of orange across the sky caused by the setting sun was, even as the sound of rocket fire reached her ears. As she walked, she started to move further and further from the wall of the base, while also circling it, hoping to be able to spot the ones responsible for the attack, while being too far from the base for them to notice her creeping around them. Where possible, she walked through the edge of the trees to provide a little more cover. Stealth was her only advantage here, as she was pretty sure she wasn't going to be out-shooting or over-powering anyone, not as an eleven year old girl.

The battle was not going well, it seemed that whatever outer suit the soldiers were wearing absorbed the electric shock bullets, the energy being dispersed along their body. No matter what, the boys rounds had no effect, that is until the cavalry arrived! The boys at the base could see a familiar helicopter fly over the trees. As they came around a stream of armor piercing rounds streamed from the sky and with one pass easily mowed down eight of the twenty. The boys who had been shot were curled up on the ground clutching their stomachs.

The pilot yee-hawed as they flipped around for another pass! "Play that tune again, Mikey!" he shouted enthusiatically.

Chris would find that, apart from the massive hole in the wall, all other doors were on strict lockdown.

***

Kitty found herself slowly approaching where the blast seemed to originate. As she came over the crest of the hill, she'd be able to see a massive crater, at its bottom was a large cylinder with a door. Near the girl's fortress a large hole in the wall guarded by two ominous looking guards.

Charlotte swung the rifle around on the strap so it hung behind her, and then dropped down onto her chest to wriggle across the grass, to the crest of the hill, and she muttered to herself, "Bad planning, Charly, no radio, no night vision... next time put a bag ready next to your bed... ". She squinted at the crater, and then across to the fortress wall, and back to the crater. Drawing a deep breath, she pushed herself up onto her hands and knees, crawling down the hill towards the crater, her wide eyes darting around to check for signs of life beside the guards near the wall. Crawling to the edge of the crater, she peered down at the cylinder shaped object for a closer look, her heart racing inside her chest as she searched for guards, and more important, any side of the missing Giselle.

Surge was about to call out a retreat order before the helicopter came by, along with the other boys he let out a huge cheer. "Keep em busy boys!" he shouted hoping the remaining infantry would keep those super soilders attentions towards them and not the helicopter. "Use explosives, ditch your guns!"

Mike grins wide as he fires the gattling gun. It gives him a bit of a rush handling something so powerful. As the pilot turns to make another pass, he turns to give him a thumbs-up. "Yes sir!" he replies before turning back to what he was doing. He aims at the spider-squad and lets off some more rounds. He concentrates more on his shooting now; he's doing great, but he doesn't want to get cocky. It feels somewhat therapeutic to shoot something that mocks what he fears.

"I wonder if the tracker on this vehicle could lead us back to base." Alana says as she turns it on.

(I was trying to come up with a good idea and I got one. I figured the vehicles that the girls army had would have some sort of tracking system built in, so I figured what the heck. It could probably lead them back to base. I hope that's okay N8. Also sorry for the late post. I hate it when real life sometimes interferes with fun. Not sure when I will be able to post again.)

The next helicopter fire carves another swath into the enemy ranks, whittling their numbers down to only a handful. They recognize their folly all too late though as Surge's order for explosives is met ten-fold. From every window and defensible position, grenades and rocket propelled grenades pummel the crater and the men within. Its over all too quick and soon the boys are safe. Silence greets their victory...silence and smoke.

The pilot looked to Mike, "Thattaboy! Now let's get down there to help." he said as he began to pull back down where there wasn't so much debris.

Boys cheer as the figures are prone, dead assumedly, and they pat Surge on the back for being so quick on his feet. Greg is still in the office, pistol at the nearest window while the commanding officer quivers underneath his desk.

The GPS whirs on and a cheery valley girl voice speaks loudly, "Like, Hi! Please, like, enter your destination!" There were several bases within a 200 mile radius, the closest of which being the one Alana had come from. Rachel has, at this point, fallen asleep.

Other than the guards, there is no other signs of moving life. Perhaps they've captured Giselle...or perhaps worse. They stand at attention, but the random pops and bursts of explosives can easily tell Charlotte that the majority of the masked figures are ransacking the base. Occasionally a shrill scream can be heard followed by rapid gunfire. The cylinder at the base of the crater is all metal, except for within the opening...it looks as if its a swirling blue mass of energy...curious.

Chris continues thinking for a moment before pulling out his rifle and attaching a silencer debating using an armor percing shell to try and take the guards out silently or to just wait

Charlotte lay flat on her tummy as she watched the guards, wincing everytime the sound of gunfire or screaming reached her ears. She gazed towards the swirling mass of blue energy on the cylinder, a feeling of dread welling up inside her. Every instinct told her to get the hell away from that thing, but there was a good chance that was where they'd taken Giselle. Sitting up, she pushed her legs over the edge of the crater, clutching her rifle with both hands as she slid sown on her bottom. Climbing to her feet, she crept towards the side of the cylinder, her legs shaking as she peered around the corner, towards the opening, and then made a silent dash for the swirling blue mass!

Surge let out a huge sigh and met the boys praise with a small smile before shutting them all up. "We're not done yet men! Party, AFTER we know the enemy is down" he said taking a Grenade Launcher rifle from one of the boys. "Cover me" he said sounding more pissed and than happy as he loaded the GL and walked up to one of the defeated soldiers. Surge wasnt a least bit happy, he was angry and frustrated seeing his fellow comrades down and his base almost recked. He wanted to get to the bottom of this attack.

"Okay, that's weird." Alana says as she shrugs. "The nearest base for the girls army. I need to get Rachel home so I can get her to the infirmary."
