Ickle Harri-chan wrote:The golden-haired paladin stood just on the edge of the box, her cheek resting against the head of her daughter, an armoured hand stroking the child's back as she listened to the Monarch's speech. She found herself picturing the Boar Demoness standing above her as she knelt on the ground, and her cheeks flushed slightly.

"Excuse me... ", she said to the King once he had spoken. "Are you inviting us to dinner?".

The king turns to the Paladin, his face looks as strained as his voice but he manages a smile. "Thats right, good lady. A dinner and a council. Though it was my hope you would have had the latter before facing this darkness."

Brnin8r wrote:With the fighting finished Trey came out of his battle stance. Staring at the corpse-shaped pile of ash in front of him, he couldn't help but vow silent vengeance on whatever dark force turned these innocent souls into these twisted perversions. In the somber ambiance, Trey simply nodded to the king's invitation. With the battle over, Trey's next priority Gregor came back into play. He began to look around to find the boy.

Gregor could only nervously nod to the man's proposition, "Yes Sir..." as he said so, the clouds began to recede and the sun's rays once again shone on the coliseum's walls. He thought about Trey which brought up the old man's natural magic use...he worried what might happen should Trey find out.

Trey sees him not! Amongst the living or dead... maybe he left?

Gregor's rescuer crosses his arms, waiting patiently at the entrance of the Arena.

Haylie wrote:As though nothing happened, Peter stood shakily to his feet and smiled broadly at the King and his daughter, and bowed elegantly. However, he kept silent.

He then made for the Arena's exit to clean his wounds and prepare for dinner...

The way is more or less clear by now. He had plenty of time until the bells struck the sixth hour.

Ginny listened before nodding her head, "I shall be there, My King". She saluted with her free hand, the other supporting her daughter, and then turned to walk away, "Come on girls, we have a royal dinner to prepare for". She held the child's face to her shoulder and stroked her hair, hoping she'd not seen much of the demon invasion. The paladin, child and servant left the arena, heading back to the inn they were staying at, to wash and dress in their finest clothes...

Trey thanked the stars Gregor wasn't among the dead. The thought, though evoked another worry: perhaps he'd been transformed by that witch. He hoped that wasn't the case as he headed out of the coliseum, perhaps Gregor was there.

Gregor looked back to the man, a sense of fear and admiration running through his body, "Sir...was that magic...of nature?" he whispered nervously. He wouldn't want to get his savior a death sentence.

James grinned a wicked grin.

Hmm... I bet there's some expensive stuff in the King's castle...

He nods and leaves for now.

Back at the inn, the talk is all about the recent invasion. Some feel reassured due to them having been beaten back, but most are if anything more nervous than before. "If they can strike Overwatch... they can strike anywhere." Is heard mumbled through the inn. And also are heard the grieving of those who's loved ones never made it out of the arena...

The way out is much less difficult, most of the crowds having fled. Finally he sees the outside again, and Gregor! A little ways off talking to a strange man...

Said strange man chuckles. "Dont be so timid, boy... I can tell by looking you are not from here, but take my word that not long ago my skills would have earned me a knighthood and a place in court at Overwatch. Yes, I practice 'nature' magic, as your clergy have named it. Among my people it is known as soul weaving. And you should be glad I do..." He pauses as Trey appears, looking over the Paladin warily.

The wicked grin is lost on the King, as he turns and heads out of the Arena with his guard.

Trey hurried as quick as his armor allowed him to his squire. He pulled his helmet off, allowing his brown, sweaty hair to tumble down his shoulders; a smile was on his face. "Gregor! You made it out, good lad!" he rejoiced. His gaze shifted to the man, "And I assume you are the one who helped escort him out. You have my undying gratitude good Sir. Might there be a way I could repay you."

Gregor couldn't help but stifle a laugh watching Trey be so gallant in the face of someone who could easily be considered his mortal enemy.

The man smiles slightly under his hood, muttering. "The spirits do love their irony, dont they..."

Louder, "I saw the boy in peril and had to act. But there is something you could do for me... I have a message to deliver to the king, but cannot myself approach him. Swear to me you will bring my words to Arleigh, where they might turn the tide of this darkness."

Trey slapped his gauntlet to his breastplate, the resulting clang almost deafening. Gregor winced at the noise. Trey bowed slightly, "Anything kind Sir for what you've done for me and my squire." he said quickly. "Will it be by missive or would you rather I just recite it to him?"

Gregor's face drooped...if it was anything revolving around nature magic, Trey might flip into a crusader again.

Ginny was noticeably restless, unable to shake the thoughts of the demons from her mind, especially not the Boar Lady. She had several more servants here, although she treated them as friends, not exerting her authority on them, but rather, they seemed please to be able to aid her. Her daughter and head servant had bathed first, and were now getting dressed as she soaked in the bath, her blonde hair soaked and clinging to her head, a soft sigh escaping from her lips. The fighting had tired her, she wasn't used to it anymore... and now she started to doubt herself. Was she really in the right shape and state of mind to be defending the Kingdom.... ?

The man nods, his face serious. "Give him this." He hands Trey a badge shaped like a ghostly white flame. "And tell him that the true protectors of this kingdom wait for his word. But we will not return until he casts that snake in robes Bishop Clarieon from the castle, banishing him as we were banished. On that day, the Soul Killer Knights will return to Overwatch."

Trey might have learned in Paladin training about the Order of the Soul Killers, a group which for generations had been the guardians and spiritual advisers of the kingdom. Until they were banished by a certain bishop for practicing nature magic.

She is left to ponder over her situation to herself. But if she didnt stop these dark spirits... who would? In the history of Overwatch, once a dark spirit began to roam, it never stopped until it was killed. Nowhere in the kingdom would be safe...

Victor was bored to tears, not that you would ever be able to tell it, he had long learned to mask his emotions behind the veil of faith. After all praying for the dead though a necessary task was still inanely tedious, the chanting and staring at mutilated corpses wasn't exactly the most thrilling of tasks. As he finished up with the dead, at least the ones in the arena he excused himself not really wanting to tend to the wounded, he prefer to wander the castle grounds to purify any other corpses and maybe search around a bit; though more of the latter the former just being a viable excuse if someone asked.

Trey froze instantly, a wave of scenarios flooding his mind each with its own slew of questions. On the one hand the Soul Killer Knights had bannered the nation's defense for centuries, but they didn't now because of their evil pacts with nature gods. He had given his word to do whatever in payment for the service the man had provided. He was certain, despite Gregor's growing skill, he may have already been dead. He couldn't afford to lose the boy to his own pride. There was the line between religion and the kingdom...for surely...if the Soul Killer Knights helped, the demon menace might not even have a chance, but would The Good Lord punish Trey for assisting in the potential rise of one of the most well-known groups of nature use. In the back of his head was this niggling doubt, worry that what he would choose to do would defy one of his two oaths.

'You gave your word' Trey thought to himself.

After the long personal debate he clutches the badge, "I will do as you have requested...though I doubt Bishop Clarieon will be banished." he opened his hand and looked down to the badge, such a small thing that caused him such grief at the moment, "But...the kingdom's defense and my own honor and honesty will not be compromised for such a small thing." he tried to smile, to assure everyone that there would be nothing to worry about...but what would happen should the High Bishop discover Trey's actions. "Gregor place this in Ambro-" he said, realizing his horse had still not shown up, "Go fetch Ambrosious." he changed his request and placed the badge in his coin purse. "Again Sir, you have my undying gratitude. I wish we'd have met under better circumstances." without much else to say he offered his hand to the sage. "And..." he started nervously, "Since I've seen no nature magic, you're no threat." he said. He cursed himself slightly for weaving around the holy laws and his direct order, but this man had saved a life.

The Arena is in quite a state of disarray, but still exudes its aura of impressiveness. Half open trapdoors creak in the floor, as the yellow sand is stained red with blood. Also a lot of the citizens had left their things in the stands when they began running for their lives.

((Whoo conflict!))

The man grins humorlessly. "I can see your mind working. The disgrace of one worthless bishop is hardly a price to pay in return for an order of warriors trained to deal with the very situation the kingdom finds itself in. We will accept nothing less, be grateful we arent calling for your little church to be outlawed like our own way was."

"But I will leave it at that. We still watch... even though are not wanted here. The king has betrayed his people, betrayed the old spirits... and this is his judgment. If he loves your god so much, lets see the deity save Arleigh from the dark ones."

He turns to look at Gregor. "Boy... if you go into Watchwood with this man, keep your mind and ears open. The spirits always watch those with strong souls, and not all of them are evil. If you are not close minded and self-deafened... they might even speak to you."

Looking back to Trey. "As for you, Paladin... I dont envy the task you lay out for yourself. The forest is old... the spirits within older still. They will not take kindly to your new god." He turns and begins walking away.

Trey couldn't help but disagree with the man. There was too much buildup behind his upbringing to see the High Bishop as anything but a direct channel of The Good Lord. Though in the wake of his manners, Trey simply nodded, "The Kingdom's defense will be sure and steadfast, supported by the Good Lord and perhaps, if the King allows it...this ancient order. I cannot say I'm pleased at this talk of spirits, but you've proven yourself a good soul...so far." he added on, his paladin paranoia showing through.

Gregor didn't make a move to respond to the man. He knew if he said yes, he might be punished, though he wasn't going to say no. That wasn't honest. He hoped the man might recognize the words in his eyes as he made a silent vow to at least listen...to see if this man was right.
