The groups took some thought to decide on the groups (OOC: it did and all, that's what the delay was at first, I couldn't think of how the teams should go...) but eventually it was decided that the right hand group would be Naarsa, Garath, Mabala and Asylintha while the left-hand team was Lyon, Landara, Merk, Alana and Alex.
The group moved silently through the sands until just ahead a gap in the sheer cliffs opened in front of them. It was at this point that the party separated, each taking their assigned positions and maneuvering so they would not be spotted, or at least did so as much as they could upon the featureless dunes. The only exception to this was Merk, who led the horses alone, waiting to meet up with the rest of his team when he set them on their way through the chasm as bait.
The pass was silent save the soft moan of the wind, almost carrying the echoes of the hell the travellers had left almost in their wake. But such guilts would have to wait as the plans for the trap were lain. At the base of the right cliff Naarsa prepared herself for the task ahead of her.
"Ok, I'll have to use some elemental spells to get us up the cliff." she said, "I'm not that good with them, wind in particular so I will only be able to do one person at a time, two if I really try. Who's going up first?"
Meanwhile, at the left-hand entrance the group took cover at the edge of the rock face which only half a meter down vanished into the ascending path. The route was strewn with outcrops and cover points which could be used to their advantage. All that remained was to take positions and wait for the signal.
"This path is only wide enough for two people." said Landara, "We need to decide which order we go up. Does anyone here have something to use as a shield of some sort?"
