Ginny pulled the horse up infront of the sign, the red-haired girl's arms wrapped around her waist from behind. She sniffed a little, glancing from left to ride, "The Goddess will lead us to her... ", she muttered, and then kicked the horse into action, riding off in the direction of Fenguard!

((*copy and paste!*))

Fenguard... a seldom used road to a bleak fortress town set on the edge of Wraith Glen. As they leave Overwatch Clearing, many commoners cheer them on, offering food gifts and wishing them good luck. Only the surly rangers, marking her as a Paladin, scowl as she passes. The Rangers of Watchwood were always known to be strong believers in the spirits and 'devils' that haunt the forests.

Not too far ahead of them is Trey and his squire! Will they ride with them? Exchanging witty banter? Watch them from a distance? Or try to ride past and leave them in the dust!
O Muse!

Of that man skilled in all the ways of contending,
A wanderer, harried for years on end...

Ginny smiled and waved to those waving them off, and she winked at the rangers before speeding up the horse and racing along the road, catching sight of the other Paladin before too long. Her eyes narrowed a little, and she continued to push the horse until she'd caught up with Trey, and only then did she slow down to match their pace. "The boar woman is mine... ", she announced, coming up alongside him.

He soon finds them! Horses of all colors, breeds, and sizes fill the stables! A stablehand glances over. ""ello there... whatcha be needin. 'ero?"

"Just a steed. One strong and swift."

He shrugs...clearly feeling no need to further elaborate on the matter.

James nods and enters the stables, appraising the horses. He needed a fast one in case the group ended up getting in over their head.

The day had been filled with rump-bruising riding but it was all worth it to Trey, knowing what lay out in the world. He would surely slay this menace. The appreciation of the common folk pushed him forward and only the scowls and his own returned glares blackened his day. Had he not been on a King-given quest he would have challenged the rangers, though they had done nothing wrong and he as well as the church had ceded to the fact that the rangers kept the normal nuisances from the villages that prayed and paid tithes. They were a necessary evil and he was after a greater, more menacing one.

Gregor's experience was just as painful, though his zeal was to his squireship, he sought to support Trey, despite when sometimes he wondered if the paladin really knew what he was doing. He looked to the people in a different light: they had always been on the cusp of civilization and wilderness...could he really assume that they all held a love of the church that the city folk had? The rangers filled him with a conflicted sense of admiration. His childhood conditioning so far that stated all nature worshippers as evil devil summoners had a difficult time looking upon them, though his experience with the elderly man caused him to almost envy the rangers; their free will inspired by spirits instead of a judging, omnipotent god. He was confused.

Down the road, the two rode through sunset for a time before Trey reigned in his horse and stopped, "While we must get to the village...there is no sense riding through darkness where evil thrives." he gently guided the horse to the side of the road, "Gregor, help me down from Ambrosious and we'll get to setting up camp. Gregor nodded and began to go about the tasks given.

Arrangements began to camp the night.

Apparently Trey didnt care! Or he chose to not notice her. The ride is long and winding, through the tunnel carved from the trees. Soon dusk begins settling, the shade beneath the boughs thickening. As it does, Ginny hears a faint laugh coming from the deep woods to her right... or was it the wind? The sultry voice sounded... familiar. Or was her mind playing tricks on her, focused on the boar demoness.

ZeroForever wrote:"Thank you for your warnings dear man" Victor said in his typical sing song voice "I'm not so foolish to discount the other beings in this world". With that said he nodded to the man and with no hesitation he maintained his trotting pace straight into the forest.

The Ranger nods. "Good, boy. With an open mind you might survive out there. Spirits be with you..." And so begins his long ride! The road is long and winding... but just as the day begins fading he comes across an inn carved from the trees! The faded sign on the large two story building reads: "The Silver Hart". Interestingly, the bottom story seems to be made of stone, and the front door seems rather... fortified.

Alissa of Someday wrote:"Just a steed. One strong and swift."

He shrugs...clearly feeling no need to further elaborate on the matter.

The stablehand nods. "Aye, we got those." He leads him to a large brown stallion, who indeed looks strong and swift. "He will take ya where ya need ta go. Just try not to get 'im et by tha demons. Thass a good 'oss."

Blaze wrote:James nods and enters the stables, appraising the horses. He needed a fast one in case the group ended up getting in over their head.

There is a large black one which seems particularly spirited...

The sight they pick proves to be a good one. In fact a small circle of stones shows it has been used for such a purpose before. The night seems... surprisingly quiet. Feelings of menace not apparent as they were in the darkness of the stadium. The night grows later, and as Gregor no doubt tries to sleep, he hears a faint whispering... beginning just when he is on the edge of sleeping and wakefulness. Trey, if he decides to stand watch, would find the night peaceful... filled with the sounds of nocturnal animals. But something feels... off. He felt the presence of something nearby. Not the black feeling of the demons in the arena, but... something else.

As she hears the laughter, or perhaps imagines it, she soon forgets the banter with Trey. A nudge of her knee sends her horse racing ahead again in the direction the voice seemed to be coming from. Her heart raced inside her chest, her expression becoming quite focused, "Careful with this one, Nev, she's dangerous... ".

James gives the black horse a pat on the snout before attempting to saddle it.

The woods are twisting, and the half light of twilight dosent help either. But after crashing through the forest for a bit they come across what looks like an overgrown path. At the end of it, the forest gets darker... and darker... until it is swallowed by darkness. Again she hears the voice... and there is no mistaking the same sultry tones.

"Looking for me? How sweet... I'm glad I left such an impression on you... Now you know where I am... come get me..."

Blaze wrote:James gives the black horse a pat on the snout before attempting to saddle it.

The horse snorts and rears back! The stablehand smirks. "That 'oss is a firey one."

James grunts.

"I can handle it."

He looks the horse in the eye and gives it an icy glare!

Hmm... how amusing to think there would still be people out in these neck of the woods given whats going on, ah well some people are to stubborn. Victor thought looking at the inn. Muttering a basic protecting prayer, he then approached the door he watching for traps or arrow holes as these set ups usually lent themselves well to ambushing attackers, Knocking on the door he shouted "Anyone still alive in there!" mumbling under his breath "Hopefully there are still people alive... I swear if i have to deal with another zombies ambush..." trailing off.

The man nods, looking over his new steed and then beginning to lead it out of the stables, pausing only for a moment to toss the man a stock line, though it sounds perfectly natural coming from the mountain of a man before him.

"It will determine it's own fate...but if I have anything to say about it, the demons have already eaten their last meals."

With that, he ducks slightly, as not to get the hilt of his oversized blade caught in the doorway, and walks onward, as if he doesn't have a care in the world, getting the horse onto a path before vaulting atop it, mumbling something to himself as he looks outwards, his eyes carving a path into the woods. Urging his horse to a brisk trot...he's off! The man doesn't seem to have a particular destination in mind yet...but he seems to be steering away from more populated roads and the like as he makes his way.

As the forest grows darker, Ginny swings her leg over the horse and slides down, motioning for Nevrina to follow. The girl in the golden robe jumps down after the Paladin, and then Ginny pats the side of the horse, turning it around and sending it back the way they had come. Drawing the giant sword that looked far too heavy for such a slim young woman, she moved forward, Nevrina conjuring up a glowing orange fireball that begun to spin around above them, lighting the path. Ginny's eyes narrowed as she heard the voice again, but she continued to walk towards it's source..
