Sal rolls his eyes. Great. The name game... "Sal Salazar, Combat specialist. I've been in a few tumbles, so don't worry. I'll keep you covered if things get sticky." His look is all business.

After seeing that everyone except himself has gone, Endo lets out a sigh and readies himself to speak.

"I am Heavy Weapons Guy. And this...." He pulls to his side a giant portable minigun/flamethrower hybrid that he leaned against the wall a few minutes ago so he could look outside the window. "Is my weapon."

".... Er...."

"Heavy Weapon Specialist, Endo O'Donnell. I'll shut up now."

When some of the crew mates see Endo pull out his hybrid weapon a few get a little jumpy while others begin to snicker and talk behind his back about how stupid he is for carrying his weapon around...especially a weapon of that size. A pair of women also snicker, although the contents of what they begin to whisper about cannot be heard from anybody in the group.

Robert peeks at the weapon Endo is sort of diplaying and shrugs. If he was going to get killed in an epic battle (or more probably get bored) with those guys, he could at least do some small talk.

" That's an unusual sight you have here Endo, is it standard or at least approved for combat ? "

Sam carefully schools his features. It wouldn't do to give his marines the wrong impression so easily; but.... "Good to see you're prepared; but you don't have to carry that thing around with you all the time if you don't want to."

The marine hesitates for a moment before powering on. "Anyway, we'll be required to offer some training for the security groups; but, other than that our only real issue is to stay out of trouble. Any questions?"
Hmm.... Does anyone actually read these anyway?

"What kind of training? Will we be doing this as a group or are we splitting up?"

Jack opens his mouth to say something--and then shuts it quickly. Whatever his attitude was towards their mission here, he asked the right questions--he could think of nothing to add.

"It'll be something like martial arts classes for the enlisted men. We'll be splitting up and each working with a group of men to help get them up to par. It'll be good if we end up in a bad situation later, and it should help build contact with the regular troops."

"So we get to throw some of these rent-a-cops around? I think I could handle that. What will our pairs be?"

"Martial arts training...?"

Jack doesn't show it in his expression, but his only fighting ability had been attained from the year of required marine training. Not that he couldn't handle himself in a fight now--he was in peak physical shape--perhaps the best he'd ever been...but he wasn't an expert. Training a group in fighting techniques would be...challenging.

Robert shrugged. A martial art training sounded like any other way to pass time, waiting for the next rocky planet to be marked as unfit for life.
While Robert was no expert in the field, his initial training had tought him enough to be able to transmit the basics to the rookies.

"But, er, I'm not much of a martial arts kind of guy, y'know? I usually just rely on my power armor and guns to take care of any problems. Besides, I'm the Heavy Weapons Specialist, so I doubt I'm ever going to need to punch someone in the face.... Well, maybe I'll need to punch one of you guys to knock some sense back into you in case we're ever exposed to a strange toxic nerve gas developed by an alien race that causes everyone except me to go into a berserker rage, but then I could just use my flamethrower to burn you all to a a nice crisp. Though, I wouldn't be able to revive any of you from an attack like that, so I probably would be sent back to Earth to be court marshaled, and must likely I'll be put on death sentence for harming fellow soldiers for no real reason, which probably was the plan of the alien species all along, so shortly after my execution they'll invade Earth and take over all the continents in a matter of days, thus extinguishing the existence of mankind forever and ever. Luckily, I have several cousins who live in an underground bunker not too far off from Washington D.C, so they'll probably start a rebellion to fight off the aliens, though I doubt they'll succeed since they don't have much combat experience outside of video games. Maybe after they die, a movie will be made of them. A movie made by aliens. Neat."

Endo breathes.

"So, yeah, I guess it's a good idea."

The sound of the ship's hail* goes across the galley hall, and soon a feminine yet artificial voice calls from the speakers. "Calling Marine Detachment 9M32, please report to the briefing room. Repeat, calling Marine Detachment 9M32, please report to the briefing room." The speakers then die out, and half the crew members in the galley stare at the five of them.

Sal smirks. "Looks like training will have to wait." He gives Endo a friendly smack on the back. "Come on, Alien boy. We might need some more of your theories in the briefing."

Robert speaks to Jack next to him, ' Don't you find those speakers creepy ? It's always the same tone, whenever it's a train's arrival or the end of the universe. '

He calmy takes the time to shutdown and fold his laptop. ' At least it didn't say immediatly, I guess the center of the galaxy isn't going to explose '.

Robert sighs, it's hard to tell if it's relief or disapointment.
