The man's neck hair sticks on end... he knew something was off. The local veering away confirms his suspicions. Ovvar darts his eyes again as if to reaffirm that him and the old man are the only one's about. He feels a twitch in his hand, and he inches his finger slowly towards one of his daggers. In a hushed voice, he asks of the old man "...who are you?" But from his tone, Ovvar might as well have been asking 'What are you?' to him.

James said nothing during the trip, musing on what he had heard last night. When they stopped to eat, he chewed slowly, blinking in surprise when the Warden spoke to him. He looked down the path and looked at the old man.

"Is this to do with the fact that I am 'marked' whatever that means?"

Gol turns around. "You want ta fight fer me, eh?" He looks over Nergal... then shrugs. "Thats up ta you. Dont be expectin me ta save yer hide, though."

The clerk at the window looks up. "So... what should I put you down as?"

"Ah - Nergal, sir. Nergal Veilhearth." His gaze shifts from the clerk to Gol. "I suspect that you'll have little to worry about... My lord."

Ickle Harri-chan wrote:The little Paladin murmured as the woman stroked her blonde hair. Turning her head a little, she rested her head against the curve of the woman's breasts, where both the cool silk and warm flesh was against her cheek. Everything felt different, but also the same. She felt no more lust, but she was still helpless to resist the wishes of the Demon. "Yes, Mistress... ", she replied in a meek little voice. She still KNEW this woman was evil, but her voice, her touch, even her smell, made Ginny feel safe, comforted... and obedient. Closing her eyes, she wrapped her arms around the Demon Woman while she was still bent down to Ginny's level, and hugged her.

The Demon Woman's plump lips curl into a smile as she hugs the girl back. "Good girl..." Then suddenly her arms lift Ginny into the air... carrying her over and laying her down on the soft silk bed. She then lays down next to her, stroking her hair lightly. "Alright little paladin... we will get some sleep and head out in the morning." She leans forward... placing a sexy yet motherly kiss on the young girls lips. "Good night..."

The old man smiles. "Tyrion is my name... I'm a Speaker. Though what I do most is listen." He gestures around him to the city. "City people... the noise easily deafens them. As I believe it has deafened young Arleigh. I listen to the spirits of the city... and of the woods. And I speak to them on behalf of the people. But as you might think... the spirits lately are growing as deaf to my words as their whispers are to the city people."

The Warden seems to only be half listening. "Boy needs to know of the Olde Souls. Boy will be finding them before they find him. Be giving him edge." He nods, nodding to the path once more, before turning and heading back to the campfire.

As he gets far away, one of the Wardens walks up to James. "I would listen to him if I were you... old Tobkin rarely speaks two words together, you got full sentences."

Gol nods. "Good! I'd be hatin ta have ta clean yer guts offa me boots. Lets get this started, aye?" He heads to the marked door.

Ginny squirmed at the unfamiliar sensation of large hands grasping beneath her arms and lifting her right off her feet. She blushed as the woman held her, her eyes level with that luscious smile, and shivered as the soft, sexy, and commanding voice praised her for being a good girl. It felt good to hear that, but it also made her feel ashamed of what the woman had done with her. The bed was so soft, and the feeling of calmness remained, clouding her thoughts as the woman in the red dress came to lay beside her. As the hand stroked through her light blonde hair, she murmured and closed her eyes, all kinds of pleasureful pulses being sent right to her brain. Even in that state of pure happiness, there was still room for embarrassment, as the woman's much larger lips kissed her in a Motherly sort of way, reminding her both of how small she was, and who was in charge. It didn't take long for sleep to claim her, both her small hands lightly grasping the red silk of the woman's dress as she drifted off.

James stares at the old man with a dismissive look before the younger Warden pipes up. He rubs his chin and stares down the path, weighing the pros and cons.

Well... I don't want to be running from these things forever... if something down there can help me I'll take it. Besides, he doesn't seem the type to just want to be rid of me.

He turns to incline his head to to group.

"Thank you very much for your help. I will follow the Warden's advice."

He turns his back on them and unless he's stopped, starts walking down the path.

Ovvar's eye brows furrow. He relaxes for the moment, and takes off his hat. Nodding in slight respect, he says "...and I'm Ovvar. Nothing more then a wanderer and a sell sword." He pauses, then muses "...then what is there to be done? If the spirits aren't listening... to me it sounds as if the call to the Arena is nothing more than a call to arms. I'm sure I can handle myself. ...but if the spirits are as prevalent as I think they are..." He trails off. He's not the expert here.

Ginny drifts off into what might be one of the most comfortable sleeps of her life. The softness of the bed and the woman almost too much. And though she knew she was a demon... she couldn't help but feel safe with the woman. The night passes in a blink of an eye... eventually Ginny wakes up in the bed, light streaming through the window. The woman stands in the beams of light... posing in front of a mirror and smiling. She starts talking to herself.. or perhaps Nevrina. "Oh honey... thank you so much for the body... its so nice to not have to skulk around in darkness. I can finally work on a tan..."

A few look like they might try to stop him... but they rethink it. Soon he is on the road... the boughs of trees leaning in from either side, trying to reclaim it. It goes along for quite some time... then seems to begin opening up into a clearing. Ahead is a large stone wall covered in ivy... a slightly ajar gate set in the wall. The old, rusted entryway should be open enough for him to squeeze through.

Blindsense wrote:Nergal follows close behind, grinning cheerfully. "Let's get this started indeed."

They head down a long hallway... eventually to a large ready room. Armor and weapons hang on the walls while the center of the room is dominated by a massive table laden with food. A man by the door nods to them. "Hello champions... the next arena testing will be happening soon. Before it does feel free to partake of anything you desire."

Gol grunts, heading over to the table and sitting down... gnawing on a piece of lamb and a beer.

The old man smiles. "Spirits are not flesh and blood, boy... they dont fight like other things. Sure any normal man can slay a vessel of a demon...but it takes one with talent or training to truly win a battle against a dark soul. Do you have either of these? If not I suggest you seek them out. Or become another lamb to slaughter."

Panic flooded through the paladin child as she woke alone in the bed. Her arms stretched out around her, searching for the woman, until she heard the voice, and was once more overcome with that warm, safe feeling. With the light behind the demon, all Ginny could see was the silouhette of her gorgeous figure. She was entranced, as she lay there gazing at her, feelings of admiration, jealousy, and comfort all growing stronger together. While still remembering that she'd come to this place to kill the demon, she felt right now she could just lay and watch her forever, admiring her lovely red hair and full curves.

"I'm awake, Mistress....".

Nergal simply indulges himself with a slice of fresh, buttered bread as he surveys the competition - keeping an eye out for anyone that looked particularly unusual... Or dangerous.

James slowly walks down the path, clutching the handles of the knives, expecting a demon to leap from the trees to gore him. Though when he reaches the clearing with the wall and the gate, he hesitates and looks around for any sign of an ambush before squeezing through the ajar gate, being careful not to move it for fear of the rusted hinges squealing and bringing undue attention.

Ovvar's eyebrows furrowed in worry. He looks down. He's confident of his skills... but it needs to bleed if he hopes on killing it. He looks to the man, "...then I'm afraid I'm no use to the king's call or the Arena." He turns away, "...I have skills with the arcane. But nothing that could trick, let alone home to harm, one of these demons."

She looks around at the Paladin. "Ah... good." She smiles, the light shining through her vibrant red hair. "We will have some breakfast, then head out." Just then the smell of pancakes breaks through the sweet smell of the woman. Over by the table it is set with two plates, fruit, pancakes, syrup, honey, butter, milk... where did that all come from?!

Blindsense wrote:Nergal simply indulges himself with a slice of fresh, buttered bread as he surveys the competition - keeping an eye out for anyone that looked particularly unusual... Or dangerous.

Quite a lot of strange characters are present. Mages, warriors, rogues... it seems types from every walk came out of the woodwork. If he had to give prizes for unusual... it would have to be the young girl in a cloak sitting at the table, munching away at some pastries and milk.

The door at the far end opens, a guard looking out. "Ten minutes until it is time."

He manages to get inside without any loud noises... but as he does all of the background noises seem to drop away. In front of him are stone buildings... most still standing. A main road leading... somewhere... in front of him. It was hard to tell, since the early morning mist seems to have not dissipated here... but thickened. He gets a distinct impression of eerieness.

As the wonderful smell of breakfast reached her nose, Ginny wriggled out of the bed, dropping her bare feet to the carpet. Standing up, she stretched her short arms up over her head, and then rubbed at her eyes. So much conflict raged inside the little paladin's mind. She glanced over at the breakfast waiting for her, and then back up at the beautiful red-haired woman that towered above her. There was a little hesitation, and she tugged on her dress, as if debating wether to try and stage a fight back... but she knew it was impossible to reject all this. Letting out a sigh, she went over and climbed up onto a chair at the table, and helped herself to some pancakes. Only after several mouthfuls did a guilty expression come over her young face. "What's going to happen to Nev?", she asked.
