Jack nods imperceptibly. Of course they couldn't send a droid--more's the pity, of course. Clearing his throat, he speaks up.

"So--after the jump, we are to begin the operation immediately, then?"

He wasn't terribly enthused, of course...but from what he knew of their equipment, there was nothing for it but to send a team down in this situation. He just wished that didn't have to be a part of it...

"And if the team's dead? It seems like it's a credible possibility given the time frame. We don't have any clues as to what could be down there. Also, what kind of weather can we expect during the mission?"
Hmm.... Does anyone actually read these anyway?

The Lieutenant turned to Mentson first and replied "Then you report back that the expedition is dead and attempt to discover what the cause of death is. Expect the weather to be heavy rainstorms, as it's the most common." She then looked at Bluespire and stated "That's correct, Warrant Officer. You all have two hours for preparation."

Following that the Captain spoke. "Gentlemen, we've got the utmost faith in what you're doing. Please do honor to this ship and her crew. Dismissed!"

Sal stands and gives the captain a salute before filing out with the others. Once they're outside, Sal shakes his head. "Two hours prep time. We need to get crackin'."

Robert stands up, salutes and proceed to the exit with Sal.
'Yep two hours prep. and yet the brass should have known for quite some time what our mission was. It's like they decided it on the last minute. That or they didn't want too many people to know about this mission. In both cases it's fishy.'

"It could just be bureaucracy not telling anyone till the last minute." Sam reminds the group, "And it's probably not the best idea to be worrying about that now. We know what we have to do and we need to be getting ready to do it. Even if there is something fishy, I doubt we'll find out before we get down there."

Jack sighs quietly to himself.

"You're right of course--it can't be helped...Still, with a hundred or so down there it should be faiirly open-and-closed...as long as nothing odd is going on."

Endo, busy trying to lug his massive weapon back to the ship's armory, is absent from the conversation. With his power armor, the task would be easy as cake, but....

Robert nods at Jack and Sam analysis. 'Anyway, let's get ready to get a shower. I don't suppose we'll be provided umbrellas.'

A brief description of the Armory, once the Marines make it there:

The initial room is more like an office, and there are doors to the right and the left. The door at the right is labeled "Ship's Armory" and through the glass door can be seen a plethora of lockers, whose contents are obviously unseen (though one could guess it contained combat armor) and several racks containing the same kind of submachine gun and drum magazine. An odd combination, but one supposes it works. Efficient, but mundane.

The other door, though unlabeled, is clearly the Marine's Armory. Through the glass door (which isn't actually glass upon inspection, but rather a fully transparent metal) can be seen five lockers (where the soft armor is located), two wall racks with a variety of assault rifles, carbines, submachine guns, pistols, knives, and so on. Just within view is another wall and rack with lots of technical equipment, including scanners, comm devices, etcetera. NOT within sight are the actual power armors. They must be located further inside.

The Security Crewman at the desk greets the Marines. "The Command Crew sent us a notice that you were coming. Good hunting, sirs!" He presses a button and the door opens. He gives O'Donnell a queer look as he lugs his gun back into the armory, but makes no other notice of it.

Robert nods at the security crewman ' Thanks '
And walks to the explosive's rack.

"Geez, you do one thing wrong, and suddenly everyone's staring at you like you're a three-headed dog...." Endo mumbles to himself as he lugs his giant weapon onto a nearby weapon rack. He knows that bringing out the big thing wasn't the smartest thing to do, but c'mon!

Sal gives the man a nod before heading into the room. He smiles to himself as he handles the myriad guns. He sets them down and grabs a couple of small leather harnesses and puts them on his calves and arms. "Just like a candy store." He uses the harnesses to put no less than three knives on his person.

Although his training had provided him adequate skill in conventional light weaponry, Jack doesn't trust himself well enough in a combat situation with much beyond a pair of pistols--which he, after a critical glance around the room--picks out carefully.

Sam walks over toward the weapon rack. After a few moments of thought he begins glancing through the weapons. Ultimately two hanguns, appropriate ammo, an assault rifle, and a combat knife. The set up is relatively standard, but it seems the best solution with this little information given. He then turns toward the rack full of support supplies and quickly selects a scanner, a spare scanner and a com-link.
