He smiles, and walks into the light. "Thank you...I'll ask them there to double-check." Then he is gone, and paramedic walks back. "I have the disk. Do you want to try to see if anybody else needs your help? If you do, I can wait outside."

Maybe- Genno was on the roof- if I can get up there, maybe I can reach him- tell him how sorry I am for failing him- I didn't even get to tell him that I think I- She sighed a little. No. Don't break down now. You can't. You have to do your duty. Then- then cry....

(We can skip over the stuff inside, so long as there's nothing unusual slated to happen, but perhaps I ought to do the attempt on the roof, if I can get up there, given the intent. After all, he's not actually dead, but she doesn't know that....)

(Okay, want to do how she does it, or shall I just do the answer, which is that she gets a 'The number you have dialed is no longer in service', or spiritual equivalent, and a possible vision of what actually happened/where it is, if that's within her power.)

(Okay. See you later, I hope? I'll just summarize what I do in here now, and you can correct any discrepancies later.)

This time Elise crossed into the center of the room. There were no more- well- physical presences- to work with, after all. The center provided the best foci. Again centering herself, she reached out once more, trying to contact the various spirits still inhabiting the place and encouraging them to pass on and find their final rest in the Otherworld.
When the last one- or at least what seemed like the last one- was gone, she sighed. That had been tiring.... And still one more to go.... The most important of all.... She looked to the paramedic. "Is there any way to get up on the roof?" she asked. "There's something I... need to do up there. It's... well, it's rather... important...."

Daniel watched the building with a confused look on his face, the spiritual energy around the building was making large fluctuations, as if all the spirits were being sent into the afterlife. He began to watch the building to try and find what was causing the energy changes.

Daniel can tell that Elise is the focus, considering that she still has remnants of recent spellcasting on her, of the 'divine' school, or at least a school that deals with such things. He can see her as she walks out.

As for getting to the roof, the Paramedic takes her to where she fell, and points. There's a ladder there, and a big line of blood right NEXT to the ladder. "You know, if it wasn't for the whole 'pressed for time' thing, I probably should have taken the ladder."

A spiritulist eh? I guess I'm not the only "abnormal" one in this town...; Daniel thought to himself as Elise exited the building. He continued to watch and see what she was doing.

"Well, just so long as you don't take it before I come down again.... Thank you." Elise gave the paramedic a respectful nod and started on her way up the ladder. For once, she was thankful for not wearing her usual platform boots.... They would have made this climb a good bit trickier
She could feel the wind more sharply at the top of the building. It ruffled her hair and skirt as she took in her surroundings. Not- not a sign he was ever here.... She took a sharp deep breath, tightly tamping down the feelings welling up inside. Not. Not yet. Not until... after this....
This time she knelt down. Rifling through her handbag, Elise pulled out the little pack of playing cards she carried as a foci and removed the top card. Ace of spades. The car Genno had used for his "card trick," the trick that had gotten them started on a road it looked like they would never get to finish.... She clutched the card tightly, behind the brooch cupped in her two hands. It was the only physical connection she had to him....
This time the closed eyes were as much to hold back welling tears as to aid in concentration. "Genno?" she said quietly. "I... it is me. Elise. Please come. Allow me to see you one last time.... There- there are some things I need to say to you...." And she reached out, valiantly, trying to reach the one who had become so dear to her so unexpectedly and quickly....

OOC: I'm assuming that Daniel had time to hide before she really looked around, to make sure she wouldn't see him. Especially given her mental focus was on one specific individual. That's why I never mentioned him.

Daniel had gotten to a more concealed position, and watched as Elise seemd to be muttering to herself, A spell? Is she a mage as well? he thought as he continued to watch.

She sees an image, an image of Genno in a prison cell, crouching up on a figure. The figure then looks at Genno, and dark eyes gleam. The figure is holding something, something hot.

Then it ends, and she finds herself looking up at the sky. Far above her, she can see the clouds part, and there's a blimp up there, and she knows he's on it. And in mortal peril.

Elise shot to her feet, but swayed momentarily, shaken by the vision. Her very first thought had been, He's alive! But then, the realization that it might not be for long.... She knew her abilities, and that this wasn't a hallucination. Genno was on that blimp. But... how was she supposed to get herself up there?...
Still a little wobbly, she made her way over to the ladder. Not trusting herself to climb down for another minute or so, she leaned over the edge and called down to the paramedic below, "Hey! Where can you rent a helicopter or something around here?" I don't know what else to do, and I have to get to him somehow....
