Peter applauds as well, smiling. An observant individual will notice he hasn't taken his eyes off of the princess since he entered the Arena. His smile is much less whimsical; it's more of an actual smile than a grin.

Sir Dendin smiled at the King's welcome and lifted his sword to the sky in agreement, yelling with the crowd.

[No worries.]

Onín nods, continuing along into the arena, smiling as he hears the roar of the crowd! He looks with mild interest at the other heroes that have been assembled...but says nothing for the time being. His however, may betray that he is less impressed then perhaps he could be.

Hogarth just kind of stands there and soaks in the applause. He knew that the people were cheering more for the shiny knights standing beside him, but he still couldn't help but feel some of the adulation was just for him. It made him stand straight, his hands on his hips. Looking up at the crowd, he smirked a bit. The hood slips back behind his head, and his gray eyes go wide before he shuts them altogether. The crowd shouldn't be close enough to notice too well, but the zealots next to him just might.

James didn't react to the speech or the applause. The speech was to the crowd, not them and the applause wasn't to the people in the arena, it was to the heros they could potentially be.

Peter stops clapping and turns to the brave souls beside him, his smile now filled to the brim with confidence. He seems to have a wide variety of smiles. He makes fists as he begins pacing to and fro in a rather annoying way.

"Oh lands, I LOVE the Arena! The smells, the sounds... well, not so much the smells really, never did like the stench of manure or dried blood, but I digress. My whole life I've wanted to see a round or two in the Arena, just to see what goes on. Now I'm actually IN it as a CONTESTANT! Can you believe it?!"

He gives a little arm-thrust for emphasis. "I've never been so excited!"

The clerk's eyebrow raises. "Riiiight..." he glances at Jibril and then writes this down. "Head on through the door, past the room, and through the tunnel to the Arena floor.

After the applause finally dies down, the king continues.

Arleigh: "Now... we will begin a series of tests for our guests today. Those who succeed will be invited to the castle for a feast. Then the next day, they will be free to begin their quest." He smiles slightly at the adventurers.

"Now... let us begin!"

At that, concealed hatches all around the Arena are opened. As they are, goblins pour out from them, blinking slightly at the harsh sunlight.

"Good luck to you all..."

Trey Dendin lifted an eyebrow at the waves of goblins, "Goblins? Squires fight these for initiation where I'm from." he comments as he gets into a defensive stance and approaches a group. His bastard sword held at the ready for one to charge.

Gregor watched anxiously from his holding area.

A smiles forms across Onín's leathery lips, as he draws his own...well, sword, if something of that size still falls under the same category.

"Luck? Pah. Tell me when the actual test begins, and then perhaps I will need...luck."

Despite having readied his weapon...the man makes no move to approach the goblins, or indeed, any move at all.

Finishing up his chant Victor reinforced the barrier magics that he weaved in his cloths before simply moving himself into the center of the crowd to allow the other warriors a chance for glory, after all there really wasn't any need for him to actually fight considering the foes some minor heal spells would probably suffice if even that much was needed.

Peter laughs out loud.

"HAHAHAHAHA! Goblins?! Are you serious? I eat these for breakfast!"

He then draws his longbow, nocks an arrow, and lets it fly straight at the nearest goblin's throat. Unless something should get in the way, it should hit its mark. He does this several times.

James doesn't make any snide remarks like the others and simply draws his knives and starts twirling them. He goes after the nearest untargeted goblin and simultaneously slashes at it's throat and stabs at it's belly to disembowel it.

Hogarth exhales. All he'd need to do is flourish his hands a bit, and people would think he's got all this metal hidden in his cloak. He can do this. More seeing the metal in the goblins' weapons than the goblins themselves, he swipes his hands around his waistline and his wrists. The product of this action is an assortment of disks, needles and blades seemingly balanced on his fingertips, all razor sharp. With a flick of his wrist, they all fly straight into a nearby golem. He concentrates, intending to push the shrapnel through the thing's body and into another.
