When Lily had gotten close enough to the rock, it had begun to glow softly, but it hadn't been that noticable in the sunlight. However, when Brenna also got near, it had begun to glow even stronger, becoming quite apparent to the casual observer.

Meanwhile, Donald was under the pavilion, getting a drink of water.

"Uh... guys?" Brenna gave her nearest companion a nudge. "Either there were some funny mushrooms in that lunch I just ate, or that thing's suddenly decided to do an impression of an oversized candle.... It's not supposed to do that, is it?" With that, in classic Brenna fashion, she ventured up to it to take a closer look and try to figure out how this might be happening.

The rock glowed brighter still, becoming as obvious as the sun in the sky. But that's all that it did; proximity seemed to be a key factor in how much it glowed, though.

Brenna poked the side with her finger. "Wow, this is so weird!" she exclaimed. "I wanna know how this is happening! Is it some weird rock that fell from another planet? Is there something about the composition of the stone that makes it react to sunlight?" She ran in a circle around the thing, studying it from all angles. "How're we gonna find out?"

(OOC: Okay, I'd like for other players to post what they had been doing, except for Gwen. ;p Gwen's pushing the future, and I want to know what the others had done before Gwen's most current action, before I take another step in the plot. Such as Holly's reaction, since she's sitting on the rock.)

Lily scoots slowly away. "Breena. It might be wise to stay away, in case it is dangerous...I don't want to die before my time."

"Die?" She peered back at her comrad. "How could this rock make you die? Besides rolling over you, I mean. And it seems too firmly entrenched for that. If it had some funny dangerous substance on it that was what was making it glow, there wouldn't be anything growing in this area, right?" Still, she had been momentarily distracted from her curious examination.

OOC: Sorry I got too pushy there. I was just playing my character.... She's curious enough that she'll just keep poking until something or someone jumps up and yells otherwise. Sorry.... **slinks back**

Lily glares. "There are more kinds of dangerous than just 'kill you'. It might be painted with something that's toxic to direct skin contact, or something that turns into a hallucigenic when exposed to oxygen. Also, it might form into a pattern after a few seconds, and you could have just kept it from doing that."

"Okay, okay, no need to give me the death look! I was just wondering, that's all...." Brenna pointedly backed away from the rock, hands upraised. "But it sure doesn't look like it was painted with anything weird.... Though I guess if someone did something like that they wouldn't want it to be obvious, would they?"

(Holy cow you went quite far ahead XD)

Holly, still sitting on the rock scoots over some and stares down at her make-shift chair.

She slowly looks up to the other two, "... I don't wanna die either," Holly said slowly her eyes welling up. I suppose the thought of simply standing up and moving away from the rock never occured to her. "And don't say things like that Lily... I was digging around this thing and scraping dirt off of it this morning." T-T

Lily bites her lip. "Sorry, I guess I got carried away. It's just a bad idea to poke something when it starts glowing, and acting strangely. Plus, random poking is bad in case something turns out to be fragile."

When Brenna had poked the rock, it flashed briefly, then began to rise out of the ground under its own, mysterious power. It moved slowly, and smoothly, until it reached a height of fifteen feet, from top to bottom, three feet wide at most, at the center. It was now out of the ground, and the ground outside of the pit was ten feet from the top of the rock.

Lily looks at Brenna. "See, this is why you don't poke things." She says this while SLOWLY backing behind the nearest cover.
