Magical Sailor Fuku

Okay... so I have been meaning to start my own RP or write my own fiction for awhile now. And this morning I got an idea I just couldnt resist.

The year is around 5000AD (records having been lost). The world has gone through global warming, world war three (due to depleted resources), and an ice age. The environment has stabled, but unfortunately it has stabled into an entirely different ecosystem. The seas have stagnated, and the air now has low oxygen content, and high poisonous fumes content. Most of the species and plants on the planet have been killed off by this change, and only the most hardy survivors remain.

Humanity hung on by its teeth through this cataclysm. The governments of the planet fell under the strain of change and war, and once humanity got back on its feet they found things now being run by private corporations. These include:

G-Sec: Global Security. A conglomeration of the police forces on the planet, G-Sec works as hired guards or strike teams. Have a town you need protected from air pirates? Need a building filled with troublesome squatters purged? Who ya gonna call...

PCC: Planetary Communications Corporation. These are the men and women who picked up the ruined telecommunications and internet systems of the world and spent decades repairing them. Their sphere of influence covers telephones, satellites (what few remain), television feeds, and the internet. They are the go-to source for information on anything and everything.

Federal Union: What is left of the governments of the world... the Federal Union (happily shortened by most of the populace) controls what is left of the army, navy, and air forces. They have the most advanced vehicles... and also control the moon and Mars colonies. Most of the wealthy went to them to get shipped off the harsh planet. But faster-than-light being still out of reach, the colonization of space is slow going and prohibitively expensive.

RTFS: Technically not an organization, life would probably not be possible without the Re-Terra Forming Spheres. Their origins lost to history, these giant floating globes hover above the cloud layer. There they soak up the sun's rays, using them to feed the ecosystem they protect deep beneath their black shells. Every once in awhile they will drop for new soil... raw materials... or water. When they do, tentative trade with the machines that run them can be made. Large amounts of pure oxygen, food, and purified water can be gotten for cheap, or even given for nothing. Their purposes are baffling, and only one of the spheres has ever had humans inside it in known history. Unfortunately, the occupants were pirates who ambushed the sphere and somehow overpowered the mechanical guards. A feat that has never been matched to this day. Generations later, they have turned the sphere into a floating fortress which they use to raid on unsuspecting cities.

Normal people themselves now usually live inside sealed bunkers at the top of ruined skyscrapers... or in full bodied suits. Social structures mostly are tribal, some have degenerated back to serfdom, and many are in various gangs. Of course some of the corporations have their own social structures, taking care of their 'employees'.

For the RP, you will play (at least the first people signing up will play) members of a G-Sec strike squad. People joining later on can start as members of an organization... maybe even a pirate. Hehe.

Interesting setting.... There's one question I want to ask before I start making a character, though. Is it possible that some humans have mutated as a result of the major change in environment due to exposure to new chemicals, gases, and whatnot?

*nods* Yep. I was going to introduce them later. They were going to be the combined result of genetic experiments with survival aim in mind (these never got far, but the results escaped and propagated), and centuries of living in the toxic environment.

Yeah.... No. Not that drastic. Just a guy who's got some bad luck, is all. >_>

Good, because the first mission for the G-Sec team was going to be fighting the Apple tribe of Manhattan. XD

Anyway yes! There probably are mutations in some of the lower classes. Families that dont have the money to buy completely secure shelter and such.

Or he could just be unlucky, heh.

Background: Trey works for what he needs and he doesn't mention his past as he doesn't like talking about it. Rarely does he leave the Global Security depot he lives in unless it's a job. Not to say he doesn't have hobbies. For a disciplined cop turned global mercenary, oddly enough he enjoys reading what books there are left, chronicling his own life, and writing stories related to a fantasy world where everyone of a particular country content with their material wealth even as other countries decline, rise, and become aggresive against them. He takes favor toward guerilla tactics and quick-strike methods; in and out. He knows that there could be something else he might be doing, but this is what pays and all of his stories fall on deaf or dead ears.

Looking good Brnin8r. We will have to wait a bit to see if anyone else besides you two is interested, heh...

And most of this is coming out of my twisted imagination. So feel free to comment, suggest, fill holes, and such... I'll let you know if you 'cross the line'.

Hmm... I'm assuming there's some sort of ranged weaponry, preferably that fires lead or metal slugs, preferably either hollow-tip, mercury, or explosive?

Either way, I'm in, I guess.

Background: Nobody's really sure how this Sydney, Australian man came to be here or how he survived, but most suggest cryo. He himself doesn't remember. All that's really known is he had an aptitude for fishing, and a strange affinity with any weapon handed to him. The toxic environment has affected his vision, causing him to see slightly into the infra-red spectrum of light. It's also chronically dilated his eyes, so he almost always wears a pair of sunglasses. He gets a bit excited at times, especially when he's angry, but he's generally a good guy. He also has an unfortunate tendency to jump to conclusions and hit on any girl he finds attractive. Naturally, he also has an accent. He joined G-Sec mostly because he feels he has nowhere else to go, since he can't go back to Australia.

Yay third person! And what you wrote is all good, except one thing...

Explosive weapons are a no-no in an environment that can explode right back at you. A lot of areas now are brimming with flammable gasses and such... And while it feeds a booming industry (those survivors have lots of power to spare!) It also makes lighting a cigarette in certain places a death sentence.

So gunpowder? Out. Explosive tipped rounds? Out. Incendiary grenades? Definitely out.

This is not to say people have stopped killing each other at range... heavens no. It just has led to more interesting weaponry like... compressed gas-powered rifles and energy weapons. Concussion grenades and sound wave rifles... Even edged weapons have made a comeback, but for G-Sec operatives you would be outfitted with the best of available weaponry.

Some nutters still use the old explosive stuff... since people will tend to do things like that regardless of the danger. But those kinds of weapons are outlawed for all G-Sec employees. If they cach you with them, you will get in major trouble.

Oh, and add Gauss rifles to that list! They basically use magnets to propel a slug at high velocity. Very cool, very amusing.

I thought those were rail-guns.

And do you mind my asking how many others will be on G-Sec? Or, preferably, when things get underway?

Background: Jaz was always a depressed girl. The world just seemed to hate her. She was hunted and hurt all her life. No parents, all she had was a sword. She does not know where she got this sword, but it was always with her no matter how far back she thinks. When she got older, she joined the G-Sec, to stand up for the poor people of the world. She has great skill with her blade. No matter what happens, it never seems to dull or break. But just because of that does not mean anything for Jaz is not super strong or anything. In fact, she might be a very weak swordswoman.

Looks good, Katty... you might want to have a backup weapon like a pistol, though. Just my advice. Being slaved to melee might be very painful... but then again its your character! XD

And it looks like we have enough to start! I'll probably post the RP in a day or so. But before that, do any of you have any questions about the world?
