Magical Sailor Fuku

Recently, thought America, there have been mutterings of strange things in the night that run and hunt men.

It was a very strange rumor. Many people thought it was a hoax, some thought it was real, but nobody could deny that disapearences on the full moon were on the rise.

What does the country do? How do the people react? We might never know, but we will know how one person reacts. Let's watch, shall we?

It was Friday afternoon, and Kevin Grayson was walking home from work. It wasn't worth the gas money to drive only a couple of blocks from the office to his apartment, and he knew which streets were generally safe. He was coming upon his favorite part of this route, the park; it was his favorite for two separate reasons. One, it was generally the safest; and two, it was one of the few specks of green that he could see regularly. Sure, he lived near the city's present outer edge, and thus within easy driving distance of some more nature, but there was hardly any time to visit that during the week.

Despite his usual enjoyment of the place, right now he was barely paying attention, lost in a storm of thought. He was thinking of schedules and appointments and meetings and deadlines...the sort of things he would rather not think about in leisure time, but had to in order to keep it all straight.

A girl skips up to him with a basket full of various flowers. "Hello, mister! Would you like an edible flower? Only five cence!"

Kevin blinks in surprise, as if he'd just woken up from a sleep and hadn't expected someone to be there in front of him, but he quickly shakes it off. "Um..sure," he says, fishing in his pocket to see if there's any loose change, perhaps some spat out by the company vending machine. He comes up dry, but finds a one-dollar-bill he'd stuffed in there earlier, and pulls it out. "I don't have any coins, but um..."

The girl smiles. "That's okay, mister! One dollar will get you..." She takes out a nice looking yellow and white flower. "This!" she hands it over, and giggles. "Try eating it, mister!"

"Alright, thanks." He hands over the dollar before taking the flower. A dollar isn't terribly much to him, so it's no big deal...but he's never heard of edible flowers, unless they were crafted entirely out of candies or something. He gives it a tentative sniff, and if it doesn't smell terrible he tries nibbling on one of the petals...to humor the girl.

The girl smiles cutely. The flower... actually tasts kinda good. Diffrent. It gives him an... exhilarating feeling. Like he was more alive then ever before.

And that was just one nibble...

He gives a bit of a nod to the girl, trying to seem less surprised at the flower's taste than he actually is, and continues slowly eating it...moving to continue his route home at the same time. He isn't so uncoordinated that he can't eat and walk at the same time...

The flower taste's really good... addictive, even. It makes him feel wild and free and powerful. He is already half way through.

The girl giggles. Her eyes glow red for a second before she skips off.

Kevin, naturally looking forward, doesn't see the glow in the girl's eyes, and simply continues eating...a bit concerned that a flavor is making him feel emotion, but ultimately having a bit of trouble caring. He does try to eat slowly, to savor whatever the enjoyment is; the schedule-sorting he was thinking through earlier is tabled for the moment.

Of course, he's finished by the time he reaches home. His home is a fairly modest apartment, but no tenement. It's one floor--the bottom one, in his case--of one of several identical house-like buildings that are all neighbors to one another, with their own numbers and presumably-temporary occupants. He uses a key from his pocket to get in, flipping on the light in the little kitchen/dining/living room that serves as an entrance.

As he finishes the flower, he feels a rush of power... and then it dies down.

As a side note, his house is... his house! Inside is everything just they way he left it.

A strange thought enters his head... tonight is the full moon... why does that excite him? Send a shiver of animal desire down his spine?

Kevin shakes his head a bit, slightly confused about his concern over the moon's phase...especially considering such details as when it will be full usually escape his mind. He shuts and locks the door, as usual, before heading to the kitchen section to get some food...there are mostly leftovers in the fridge, since he isn't the greatest cook.

Oh, leftovers. The best way to fill you stomach... if you don't want to spend any money and can't cook.

There are plenty of items in the fridge, but, strangly, that piece of raw meat looks rather tasty...

He scratches his head, thinking...and finally pulls out the cold meat, from the freezer-half. He puts it on a ceramic plate and starts the microwave for a little while to thaw it out...a necessary step before attempting to cook it.

It thaws rather quickly, but that raw meat looks mighty tasty... maybe he didn't have to cook it...

As a side note, he is getting distincly hairy.
