Unexpected Guests

[Mendi-chan]

*As the layout of the area becomes clearer to the group, Mendo nods to the group. Quickly, they make their way to the computer lab, where two of the ninjas post up on the entryway to the door, while Mendo and the remaining agents find their way down into the actual lab area. The NPC ninja's quickly find vacant consoles, which they speedily attempt to hack... They're rather well trained in such missions.

Mendo sneaks up to the women who had been working in the room... and sets a hand on her shoulder. He pulls her away from her workstation, so as not to allow her to sound an alarm.*
Excuse me miss... but I'm going to need some information.

The ninjas efficiently secure the lab! The ones who sit down at the consoles will find that the inactive computers require an id and password to log in, but their hacking skills should be up to the task. Accessing the base's servers, they'll find that the workstations of this lab are in fact dedicated largely to logistics, although they contain a fair amount of information regarding the troops and supplies that have been moving through the operations base to the previously-mentioned research site. There's apparently a lab upstairs that may have more information, with the research data stored on a locally isolated network. The command center is also apparently on the upper floors, with its network acting as a firewall between the lab they're in and the rest of the CTC network.

The woman, meanwhile, lets out a startled 'eep' as someone unexpectedly puts his hand on her shoulder, and she jumps in her seat! Turning to look at Mendo, her eyes widen. "Wh... Wha? Who... who are you?" she stammers.

[AmbushCat]

*Ambush Cat, as per tradition, walks out of one of the computer screens and jumps to the floor.*

Figures... I pop in to look around, and there's a ninja invasion. *idly waves* Hi, Mendo.

*The NPC ninjas produce small, black flash drives and begin to download as much data as they can regarding the research site, troop movements, and capabilities of the CTC... While Mendo nods to Ambush*
Not so much an invasion... as... a visit....

*He turns to the woman, his voice alot friendlier and warmer than would be expected of such an imposing figure. His face is mostly obscured by a black, cloth mask.*
Who we are isn't really all that important... I just need to know what your group is up too. Tell me what this new research site is about.

The ninjas begin downloading information to their drives! There isn't much regarding the research site itself (mostly just it's location, several kilometers to the northwest). Troop movements detail the passage of several squads and some research teams through the base from other locations, with a few rotations of troops on duty. As for capabilities and equipment, the ninjas can glean some information regarding the CTC's aircraft and vehicles, as well as a rough idea of how many troops the CTC have stationed at the base and deployed to the site and their equipment.

The young woman lets out a startled yelp at Ambush, although Mendo quickly draws her attention back to him. "I... I don't know much about it," she confesses. "I'm just a data analyst in logistics. I've heard some of the researchers mention it's related to a group called the Brotherhood, and it sounds like it's inactive for now... although there's been requisitions for a power core and other equipment."

[Mendi-chan]

*Mendo frowns*
What is your best guess as to why they'd need all that? Why is the CTC so interested in the Brotherhood?

[Jello Shot Mischa]

The woman blinks. "W-well, I don't know..." she confesses. "I know they've found a couple of other Brotherhood facilities, like a missile base. There's been lots of potentially dangerous places left abandoned, so I think they're pretty much just trying to secure them so no one gets hurt by accident, and some of them are useful to bring back online."

*shrugs* Close enough. So, what's up?

*He glances to Ambush*
Oh, you know. Same old, same old. And with you?

*Mendo turns back to the woman.*
What is the name, rank, and appearance of the highest ranking officer in this facility and where can I find 'em? How dangerous are these facilities, and do you think the CTC will use them in future? And am I intimidating? Cus' I promise I'm not going to kill you or nuthin'.

Pretty much the same. Got impregnated again, had a fifth child, had my reproductive organs removed, but other than that, that's it.

*Mendo turns back to the woman.*
What is the name, rank, and appearance of the highest ranking officer in this facility and where can I find 'em? How dangerous are these facilities, and do you think the CTC will use them in future? And am I intimidating? Cus' I promise I'm not going to kill you or nuthin'.

The woman blinks at Mendo, glancing at his fellow ninja for a moment. "Well, umm, you're currently dressed like ninjas and you broke into here, rather than visiting officially, so it seems like you're intent on taking whatever information you want by force," she says. "So it's... a little frightening, yes..."

She swallows. "The commander of this base is Lieutenant Brede... although I believe one of the special adjutants was supposed to be visiting tonight. While they're not in the official hierarchy, I believe they can basically override anyone short of Commander Pleasance herself." She then considers a moment, thinking. "As for these facilities the CTC has found... well, I can't say anything for certain, but I've heard stories that the CTC found a Brotherhood missile base that contained missiles with transformative warheads, active combat robots, some kind of nanotech foundry, and a cloning experiment with several young girls in it. So they do seem kind of dangerous. And since there's criminal organizations and such out there that might use those items for all kinds of evil deeds... they're probably safer in the CTC's hands. They're not going to launch transformative missiles at Muffinville, or the like."

The young woman keeps glancing at AmbushCat, apparently unnerved by the talking cat that appeared from nowhere.

*gives the woman a look* Aaaaand... what's your problem?

*Mendo takes off his mask and smiles warmly... though how much that does to assuage the situation is up for grabs.*
I just don't believe that diplomacy would achieve what I need to achieve right now. I'm not looking to start a war, just looking to assess threats... similar to the fashion the CTC assesses threats in the region. But, I won't bore you with all of that...

*One of the other ninja's waves a hand at Mendo and he gives them a nod*
For the moment, all I need from you is the exact coordinates of the excavation sites you're aware of, and then we'll be on our way.

Well, at least Mendo looks human.

At his request, the woman blinks again, but her expression hardens. "I... I can't give out that kind of information without authorization," she says, trembling slightly as she does her best to be brave.

*Mendo sighs*
Look... Mrs... I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name...

I really need that information, so if you could simply provide that for me it'd be great. I don't want to have to take extra measures to extract that information from you're psyche... Trust me, you'll be fine either way, but it'll be much easier if you tell me that information rather than forcing me to have one of those guys over there to poke and prod your mental state to find that stuff...
