Surprise Quartet

"Alright. Hopefully my luck is on the upturn and you get some of it as well," says Lavarro. He opens the door and catches the worker from earlier with his hand raised to knock on it. "Time, right?"
"Uh--yeah. If you'd follow me." He starts off down the hallway to the front, and the Furfrou-man follows.

*Callista grabs one last Dorito from her bag and crunches down on it before following the both of them out.*

The small crowd around the ring is already cheering by the time they get there; the official leads them to a small cleared section on one side of the ring, and their opponents can be seen on the opposite side: What looks like a tall woman in knightly armor with a shield attached to her right arm and a sword sheathed on her hip, and a shorter man wearing full-body purple pajamas with a pattern of white ghosts decorating them.

An announcer sporting the ears and tail of a Sentret hops up into the middle of the ring. "Okay! We got quite a turnout for today, I see. Lots of people excited to see the new faces?" The crowd cheers deafeningly. "If you're not aware, today is a surprise match--the first time either of these pairs have fought alongside or against each other, with only five minutes to plan beforehand. The rules are the same as a regular OU match with switchouts: Both members agree to a switch if they're able; if one member is asleep or frozen the other can choose to jump in; if one member faints the other hops in or forfeits.

"In the Normal corner," (waving toward Callista and her partner) "we have Lavarro, who made his debut at the last Ark fight--" Lavarro crosses his arms and shakes his head; a small subset of the crowd laughs, but most of the response sounds sympathetic, "--and a new member by the name of Callista! On the Ghost side, we have the honor-bound Aurora, and self-proclaimed eternal slacker Destin!" Aurora nods seriously, while Destin pantomimes an exaggerated yawn.

*Callista waves at the crowd off-handedly, but she seems to be paying more attention to the opposing team.*

Of particular note may be a single voice in the crowd which strongly resembles Callista's own cheering her name*, but then again maybe it's a coincidence. The announcer carries on: "Alright, no further delays needed, let's just get down to business. Starters up on the ring and then get going!" he quick-attacks off the ring floor to a small area behind it to provide color commentary. It looks as if Aurora's stepping forward; Lavarro looks briefly at Callista and then starts to climb up onto the ring himself.

((*timeline-wise I think this is before Opal entered this universe, so it's not her. At least I intend it to not be her which is probably good enough

It feels awkward to control three people in a two-on-two fight. How would you feel about specifying Aurora's attacks or something like that?))

*Callista takes a few steps away, far enough away from the ring to be comfortable but close enough to jump into the ring whenever called upon.*

((OOC: So, basically I'd name a few of her attacks based on Aegislash's moveset and you'd write the narrative around them?))

Lavarro climbs the rest of the way onto the ring, and gets into a kind of fighting stance, and Aurora does indeed take the other side's first slot, drawing her sword (which closely resembles an normal Aegislash's "sword" part) and readying it in her left hand. The announcer calls out "Three, Two, One...Go!"

Lavarro's first action is to sniff at the air, getting a good sense of his opponent's location by her scent in preparation to be able to use Normal-type attacks on her if he needs to.

((I thought you might just play her part in-battle altogether, describing which move she uses and how, if that'd be ok. It's enough to just use "natural" Aegislash moves. If you don't want to I'm still willing to handle it, I just thought it might be a more interesting thing to do.))

*Aurora doesn't give Lavarro much time to act aside from that, charging at him and delivering a diagonal Slash attack.*

He takes the hit, mostly resulting in a lot of fur flying around, but is unfazed by it, and immediately rushes her head-first in an attempt to make their craniums collide.

((Headbutt, chosen by Lavarro in hopes of the small chance of flinching))

*Aurora winces with the hit but doesn't flinch. Her forehead turns a silvery color before she attempts to return the favor.*

Lavarro takes the hit and stumbles back slightly as if dazed...but it's an act. If Aurora tries to capitalize on the apparent moment of weakness he goes for a vicious uppercut to the jaw as soon as she gets in range.

((Sucker Punch--fails if she doesn't try to attack of course))

*Aurora, who'd been getting ready to employ an Aerial Ace, cries out in surprise and recoils sharply as the Sucker Punch bypasses her defenses. Quickly recovering, she fakes movement in several different directions before striking with her aforementioned attack, trying to force Lavarro back a bit.*

Lavarro takes another slice, and looks at least a bit injured from it in addition to his back being nearly at the ropes on his end of the ring. He takes some lost fur from the slicing attacks and tosses it at Aurora's face area in an effort to reduce her accuracy a bit.

*Caught by surprise, Aurora takes a step back and sheathes her sword, furiously wiping at her eyes with that hand and raising her shield arm as a defensive measure.*
