Somewhat Special Event: The Extras Talk Back!

Yeah, it did. >^_^<

It wasn't without a few caveats, though. After my membership became permanent, all of us reached the decision to separate ourselves from reality at large. This meant that no one was supposed to know about us, and we weren't supposed to interfere with anyone. Vieza recruiting me came with a close call, in that we were nearly discovered by an entity that was both belligerent and probably could've thrown down with any two of us if he were so inclined. We wanted to avoid any sort of conflict with everyone, so we made tracks for the ends of the omniverse to play our games in peace.

Ah... You seem pretty open here, though. Did you just think Muffinville's safe, or something?

Eventually, though not without a bit of waiting on our part first. Let me bring you back to 1997 for just a moment.

We did another universe hop back then, ended up in an out of the way place. We'd just settled back in to continue our routine when our sensors showed a large-scale conflict near where Earth was supposed to be. When we investigated, we saw a small fleet of 'Star Wars' ships led by this 4-kilometer-long, garish-looking orange & green battleship getting their collective keisters handed to them by a fleet of 'Star Trek'-style ships. Listening to all the transmissions, it just had "war of the nerds" written over it: they were bickering over which series was better and using spaceships to try and prove their points.

Oh, huh... So did you do something about that? I mean, since you were there and all.

Yeah, there was just way too much potential there. After things calmed down between both factions, we stepped in to reverse the damages and made an offer to them, allowing them to expand and get stronger under a set of rules made to make the whole thing look like a massive game. All parties agreed, and we've made that universe our home for the past 20+ years, making sure that it didn't collapse from the scale of their conflicts.

Ain't gonna lie and say that Curtis Wildcat couldn't be a bit of a nuisance sometimes, though he did eventually get better.

Curtis? ...Oh, that was Callista's old name or something, wasn't it? Does she have something to do with this?

((OOC: Sorry about the delay. Between finishing MMX and starting a new fanfic project with no warning beyond a voice in my brain saying "Post this, Curtis!", I'd just wanted to rest a few days. ))

Yes. Callista was young and immature as Curtis back then. He had the brain of an 11-12 year old when The Game started in '97, and he basically combined the worst traits of Garfield and Vegeta, so it's clear he needed to grow up some. He had a ton of potential, though, so we decided to keep tabs on his progress whenever our schedule allowed. We knew he was going to be a long-term project, so we were still living in his universe when he began visiting the Villes a decade later.

Nowadays Callista is still young and immature, though for entirely different reasons.

Heh, yeah, I've heard some stories... So, that was all in his world?

Yeah.

Then 2007 rolled around. Curtis was under a lot of stress at the time, so someone we were acquainted with---

"That would be me, thank you."

---suggested that he go to this place called "Spamville" for relaxation. Of course he did, and he got turned into Callista later that year. In light of what I'd gone through in the past, this immediately set me on edge, so I talked to the rest of my group. We agreed to keep a closer eye on her than we had previously with the intent of making sure she didn't regret her decision to become human again.

Well, she didn't, did she? I mean, seeing as she's still human now.

[AmbushCat]

So far, no. Dozens to hundreds of deaths each year notwithstanding, she seems to be thoroughly enjoying her humanity. There was a bit of a heart skip after Raleigh gave her that potion that fully unlocked her mind, but it doesn't look like she's going to try to use it to become immortal or anything like that. That was my biggest fear: that she would start living the same long life that I did and hate the things that happened to her.

Oh, yeah. I guess you would be worried about that sorta thing, huh... But she's fine, so it's all good, right?

For now, at least. We're still going to keep our eyes on her going forward, but it looks like the worst of it has passed. *gestures at the Doritos and paper bowls on the counter* By the way, you want any, or are you good on that?
