Unexpected Guests

The woman continues to tremble, but her resolve seems unshaken. "I... I won't betray the trust my superiors have placed in me!" she says firmly. She glances at the other ninjas. "Even if you have to mind-rape me... I won't tell you anything confidential willingly!"

[Mendi-chan]

*Mendo pales at the 'mind rape' comment, holding up his hands defensively*
Whoa, whoa, whoa... I never said... *He facepalms* That... That's not what I meant...

I suppose we could always get that information from someone else...
*He frowns*
You're quite stubborn... anyone ever tell you that?

The woman swallows nervously, although with Mendo apparently willing to yield a little she calms down slightly, blushing as he calls her 'stubborn'. "W-well, maybe a few of my co-workers call me that..." she admits.

[Mendi-chan]

*Mendo smiles to her*
I'm not surprised... Well... The pleasure has been all mine. Thanks for all your help, and do your best to stay out of trouble.

*He motions to the others, who take posts by the exit... as he himself turns towards the door and he scans the immediate area for pulse signatures...*
Oh, and do me a favor and stay quiet about this at least until we leave.

Mendo's check for heartbeats turns nothing outside. The young woman pauses at Mendo's request, but gives AmbushCat a nervous glance. "I... I suppose I can at least do that," she decides.

*He waves back to her... and darts forward in a blur, the other ninjas moving in a similar fashion... They all move towards the upstairs lab, Mendo trying to sense any soldiers around them as they go*

As Mendo heads upstairs, he can sense a pair of soldiers patrolling the upper halls!

[AmbushCat]

The woman blinks. "I'm... not used to cats talking, or appearing out of nowhere..." she confesses.

I get that a lot. I ain't yer average cat.

Mendo's check for heartbeats turns nothing outside. The young woman pauses at Mendo's request, but gives AmbushCat a nervous glance. "I... I suppose I can at least do that," she decides.

Left alone in the computer room with AmbushCat, the young woman simply watches it for a moment, glancing at the door occasionally, until she's certain the ninjas are gone. "You don't mind if I make a phone call... do you?" she asks the cat.

[AmbushCat]

*shrugs* Sure. Go ahead. Who are ya gonna call?

*Ambush Cat waits a few beats, then---sure enough---starts humming "Ghostbusters".*

*Sticking to the shadows, the group waits for the CTC patrol to pass before proceeding onward*

The patrol passes by, not noticing the stealthy ninjas, and letting Mendo and his team make their way to the research lab! There, however, they find the door locked by an electronic lock, much like the ones outside.

Meanwhile, the young woman offers AmbushCat a slight smile at the reference. "Not really," she admits, "Unless those were ghost ninjas?" She pauses a moment to consider it, before shaking her head, and picks up the phone. "This is Mirai Chell in Logistics," she explains. "Put me through to the Command Centre. It's an emergency!"

[AmbushCat]

*Ambush Cat shrugs and sits back, not having much else to do and letting the woman go about her business.*

[Mendi-chan]

*Mendo frowns, motioning for some of his underlings to examine the lock. Hopefully they could crack it without setting off an alarm... and hopefully leaving that girl alone back there wasn't going to bite him in the ass.*
Hurry up... This is taking too long.

In the command center, one of the operators glances up at the lieutenant. "Sir, there's a call coming in from Logistics. Supposedly it's an emergency." The lieutenant makes an exasperated look, but Abel quirks an eyebrow. "Put it on an open channel," she orders.

Downstairs in Logistics, Mirai lets out a sigh of relief as she finally seems to get through to someone in charge! "This is Mirai Chell in Logistics," she explains. "There's intruders in the base! They were just here, and I think they went up to the upstairs research lab!"

She gives a tentative glance at AmbushCat, who actually seems more like a normal cat when he's not speaking. Should she say anything about him?

Meanwhile, at the research lab, Mendo's technically-minded ninjas examine the lock! It seems fairly sophisticated, but they may be able to bypass it with a little luck and ingenuity. A few tense moments of rewiring, and...

With a beep, the light changes to green, and the door unlocks! Success!
