*FL-Kaoru is the one to reach it this time, giving a good swat...back at Abby's face, who finally reacts with something other than indifference ("CHA...!") when it bounces off and lands on top of the net, teetering there.*

Drew: Get real, Penny. It's one for us!

*irritated* Oh, come the $%(^ on! It's just sitting there! How could it be a point for either of us?

Joni: *snaps* Language, little lady!

*flinches* Gomen nasai, gomen nasai!

[Ookalf]

*While the other team argues, Nozomi swims up to the net and pushes the ball over to their side.* Our point.

*FL-Kaoru and Drew stare dumbly at what just happened. Joni blinks and squints, wondering what took place. Abby facepalms and groans, shaking her head.*

Abby: ...Yeah... we're really great at this game.

[Ookalf]

*Penny and Delilah both start giggling. Madison shakes her head.* This has to be one of the weirdest volleyball matches I've ever played...

Joni: Huh? What? What happened?

*Abby explains it to her using as few words as possible.*

Joni: ... *nods, completely straight-faced* Makes perfect sense.

FL-Kaoru and Drew: Liar!

*Abby rolls her eyes, pushing the ball beneath the net to the other team.*

[Ookalf]

It made sense to me... *Nozomi serves the ball again.*

*undecisively* -Sure...-

*Joni sees the whitish blob heading her way in time to react, swatting it in Abby's direction. She in turn hits it to Drew, who all but falls over trying to get it over the net. This time the ball skims the top of the net, but drops on the opponent's side of the court.*

[Ookalf]

*Madison swims up to the net to intercept the ball, and just barely manages to get there in time to knock it back into the air. From there, Nozomi is able to send the ball back to the other side.*

((OOC: Muffinville was quiet for two full days. That just ain't right. ))

*Drew hasn't yet recovered from her all-but-fall, but happily FL-Kaoru is able to rise to the challenge in her place. The ball bounces once off her head...*

*challenging cry* --Heads up, Nozomi!--

*...and she jumps, halfway rising out of the water to spike it back at Nozomi from the top of its trajectory.*

(Yeah...)

*Nozomi is quick to react, sending the ball back into the air, with Madison then striking the ball to the far end of the opponents' side.*

*Abby tries to make a diving save, but misses and only succeeds in partially submerging herself. The ball hits the water just behind where she landed.*

Abby: *flails a bit before being able to steady herself* That... that is better. That is much better. *shakes water out of her eyes and tosses the ball over to Madison*

All right... *Madison catches the ball and serves it once more.*

*Having drifted closer to the net to try to better see the ball before it gets there, Joni takes advantage of her height and reach to punch the ball back the way it came.*
