*Mendo... checks his thermal and his heartbeat sensor to see if either of them pick up the woman standing in front of him*
I suppose, if that's the case, then you'd be willing to open formal diplomatic relations and allow myself and my operatives to go free?

Mendo's sensors indicate the woman is quite physically present!

The woman nods. "That had been something of my hope, although we were uncertain just what faction you represented. Given your methods, dress, and reference to a village with a Japanese name, it would seem you are some manner of ninja. Since you represent a local community, diplomatic relations would be the appropriate route." She glances at Mendo's operatives, still gathering their data. "I would hope that we could then present this as an information exchange. Since this information does have some value to us, perhaps you'd be willing to offer something in exchange?"

Something in exchange?
*He looks to his cohorts and then back to the woman*
If you elaborate a bit on that...

"Information. Information you consider equally valuable to the information you're obtaining from us," Abel says, focusing her gaze on Mendo. "For example, while I can understand accessing our logistics files because we operated around your village, our reconnaissance didn't indicate any communities nearby the facility we're excavating -- the data contained in this laboratory. So, you could explain why you have an interest in it, and whether or not you have a connection to this 'Brotherhood' we've heard about."

She leans back slightly with a shrug. "I'm certain there's other potentially interesting information you have you could share, but those are the questions that come to my mind first."

*Mendo raises an eyebrow*
Information about the Brotherhood?... Well, I suppose I should backtrack. First off, we chose this facility because we believed that we could get inside and thought we could gain some information about activity near our area. We didn't know anything about the excavation site previously...

Second off, what do you know of the Brotherhood?

Caine quirks an eyebrow at Mendo's apparent interesting. "Well," she says, brushing a hair from her eyes, "From what we've been able to gather, the Brotherhood is perhaps one of the oldest organizations in this area, although there's been a couple of fragmentary mentions of a 'Sisterhood' that was some kind of rival -- or, perhaps, vice versa. An entity named 'Black Dragon' shows up fairly prominently in some of the older records, and was apparently a significant figure in the organization, although a few others have been mentioned. They were apparently perhaps some kind of rabble-rousers, or troublemakers, and they apparently left a number of facilities scattered across the area. We came across an abandoned missile base with ICBMs that were armed with some kind of color-energy warheads, as well as other equipment. From that, we've been able to determine that the Brotherhood made significant advancements in nanofabrication, genetic engineering, and robotics in particular, as several robots were still active. The crowning achievement of the Brotherhood appears to be the space installation known as the Beige Star. The records of one of our naval vessels indicates Brotherhood robots were active during the space station's launch from Muffinville, and we've boarded the station once in order to acquire further information. It seems that some of the robots and other individuals are still active on the station, although we thus far haven't obtained much concrete data from it."

She smiles slightly as her gaze fixes on Mendo. "Of course, our data is fragmentary at best, so we don't really know exactly who was active amongst the Brotherhood in the past... or may still be..."

*Mendo smirks*
You've boarded that old lug? Rather impressive I must admit... However, I'll have to clear up just a bit for you. The Brotherhood still exists... technically speaking that is. The catch is that it hasn't actively done anything for quite a long time now. If I had to put it into words it'd be... a dormant state. Black Dragon is long gone, the woman who claimed the organization was never its rightful leader, and the void left between those two and now is what produces the vast ruins that you all are uncovering today. I'll take some mystery out of this. I'm a low ranking member of that organization.

I must say though... I'd be careful poking around those things. They can be quite dangerous.

*From the room Ambush Cat is located in, his sudden sneeze seems to sound a bit like the name "Himitsu". It just may be a figment of one's imagination, however.*

The silver-haired woman listens intently to Mendo's explanation. "... I see. That does answer a few questions... and we are aware that these facilities can be dangerous. Already a number of lives have been lost attempting to secure them." She considers a moment. "What would it take for this 'Brotherhood' to become active again?" she asks. "Do you know of anyone higher in the organization than yourself?"

In the logistics room, Mirai continues to stare at Ambush Cat, although she frowns at the sneeze that sounds like a name. "Himitsu?" she murmurs. "Who is that?" she asks the talking cat.

*rubs his nose with a paw* Who is Himitsu? A miserable little pile of secrets.

...But seriously, he's a pain in the neck mazoku. He was head of the Brotherhood's Spamville branch once upon a time. *shakes his head* He and the other ranking members are gone, but most of his minions still remain and cause occasional trouble for my boss.

*Walking above the ninja and CTC in the rafters or whatever the building might have she settles in to listen. While she does so she lists off several names in her own head.* Himitsu, Stratagemini, Black Dragon, Skaarj (I think was one), Neko- by association, Ellf, and so on. I suppose we should supply that to the CTC later.
*Rolls eyes.* Yeah, I'm sure you can.

Mirai blinks, although she has to smile at Ambush Cat's Castlevania reference. "Who is your boss?" she asks curiously, finally relaxing enough to pull up a chair and sit down, still facing the cat.

Callista Wilson-Metallium. *voice shifts to female-mode as he speaks* She employs me to stave off any potential danger between her and whatever shop she goes to. She was forcibly adopted into Himitsu's family years ago, and she's been actively against him and the things he stands for ever since.

The young woman in logistics considers that. She wouldn't think a cat would be a very good bodyguard... but then again, it was a talking cat that could appear anywhere, it seemed. Although... why did this Callista need a bodyguard for when she went shopping?

"This Himitsu does sound kind of problematic," Mirai admits. "You said he used to be the head of this Brotherhood? Do you think he'd be a problem if he ever came back into power?"

*considers this* Maybe, maybe not. The thing with him was that he was always... unpredictable. He hardly, if ever, does things according to anyone's plan. *to herself* Including mine.

He has a large amount of destructive power, to be sure; I've seen that firsthand. At the least, he'd be an annoying ice cream-eating twit; at the most he'd be an overpowered loose cannon. It all depends on his mood and what he feels like doing.

((OOC: And I guess some of us should be thankful that life in Texas has taken priority for him the last year and a half or so. :) ))
