xGoggles wrote:"Hmm if you put it that way... I guess it is a bit more appealing than I thought. I'm allowed to buy multiple things right?" This was quite interesting, maybe having more options available in his collecting, he could change which item he uses depending on the situation. And the ummm.. 'side-effects' were temporary, so easy enough to deal with~. "I'd like to see a few more, thanks, if it isn't to much trouble", he says with a eager smile.

Entropy raises her staff lightly. "You can have the whole stock if you really wanted. I mean, well..

She laughs, and then shakes her head.

"...Here."

She carefully pulls on a pair of black gloves and then leans down and then hefts up a box from under the desk before pulling out a few more items, gingerly placing them on the desk:

  • An irregularly-shaped black rock, seething with red through the cracks. "This is the heart of a metal demon from another dimension--Cataclysm, I think. Or maybe Crisis? I never could keep track. Leave it along and it'll burn your house down, so it;s probably good for some kinda magic, but I don't know what."
  • A pair of stud earrings in the form of "power" symbols like for a computer. "Relentless. It's an old AI from a Beige order superweapon that got trapped inside Caprice's head for awhile and...mutated. It's dangerous, but it can interface with other systems...and if you want to be dangerous, it's no skin off my nose, kid."
  • A small badge, violet on black in a stylized "B". "This probably isn't good for a lot anymore, but it'll give you top-level clearance to most old Brotherhood systems. Paradigm Network, Beige Star crash site, whatever else is still floating around. If there's anyone in charge of that nowadays they might now like it, of course.

Pulling back, she shrugs.

Anything catching your eye? You're welcome to test drive if you want, but I'mm not gonna be held responsible for any damages..."

Becoming a narcoleptic, having my darker tendencies kick in whenever I get too angry, turning into a Chibi-Usa clone whenever I get splashed with cold water...I could have lived with stuff like that. Then I made the realization that no matter what I picked, some sort of unlikely death would kick in via status quo and render it all moot with my next regeneration.

*sighs sadly* Bugger. I was kind of looking forward to seeing if I could handle narcolepsy, too.

Calamity laughs, and then runs a hand back through her hair, pushing it out of her eyes before grabbing that handle of the other sword--the LightGlyph of course, it was always going to be--and there is a burst of something that isn't quite light, and then--
...
Given the robot's limited functionality, it isn't clear whether or not it had any sense of an inner life--of a mind's eye, or an imagination. But as the world goes dark, it might realize that what happens next may not be entirely literal. It's still there, as is the woman, but the swords, the shop, everything else has gone...black. Nothing.

"Alright. I don't know if you can feel pain but the next bit is going to hurt. "

Something about her is different here. Her movements are fluid--not in the sense that she is moving naturally, but in the sense that her body almost seams to be flowing. Like a liquid.

And suddenly, something beats in the curator's chest. And it does hurt. And it beats again, and it hurts more, and that same spiderweb of sickly, angry, terrible green that had been tearing up Calamity's fingers out in the real world starts to spread out from the robot's...well, whatever it had, if not feet, staining the un-ground with discordant non-patterns, bleeding out in all directions like a fresh wound.

"So, were you always a stooge, or did you join up with the Business right out of robot university?"

And despite the robot's pain...she's still grinning. This hurts, and she seems pleased, and the Business...isn't here. And maybe the curator does feel emotions normally and maybe it doesn't, but it definitely feels -something- right now, through the pain. What is it?

"You mean if I can afford it?", he smiles "No worries about that, I think I'm pretty capable of 'producing' enough wealth to cover almost any price you'd ask for it, hehe~"

Considering she had to wear, likely protective, gloves for touching those new items, he finds himself slightly more worried about their effects.
"Erm.. d-did you say demon heart?... W-well no need for any of that..." he takes a few steps away from the black rock, if it wasn't just for the description alone, something like this will likely do more harm than good. The earrings weren't as appealing either, a dangerous AI that got trapped in Caprice's head? Poor girl, no wonder she is.. well her current self now... he guesses. "Well I'm not really looking to be dangerous though, but thanks for the offer? Ummm... Can you tell me a bit more about the Brotherhood? I haven't heard of any brotherhood here before, what are they about?", he eyes the badge a bit up-close, well close enough, not going all too near it.

"Well, I think I might get the bracelet and staff from before then. Those seem to be the more safe options", managing himself over to the bracelet first, just because the staff will be a bit harder to test unless someone would be was shooting energy blasts at him...
"And I don't intend to cause any damages to the store, no worries" grabbing the bracelet for a moment inspecting it more closely, "So with this, it was, put it on, get powers; remove it, lose powers, right?"

"Something like that. As for the Brotherhood, it's just another one of those big bad organizations--I'm sure you know a few. The brotherhood built the Muffinvilles, all three. Special ranks, sentient plushes, orbital space stations, that badge is from when Amalia was in charge, so it was all a bit military."

The bracelet doesn't feel odd to the touch, no jolts or weird glints, but Entropy takes a quick step bcolor as he picks it up.

The effect of experiencing pain on the 'thinking' part of the robot's programming seems to be a deep-seated confusion, and in attempting to answer her question through the pain its speech pattern jerks up and down in speed and pitch, and it also seems to be pulling some of the wrong information to say. "So.. wouldn't they go after you.. or anyone buying that, if they find out? That badge doesn't sound like they'd allow someone outside their organization to have...", getting targeted by a big bad organization might also be a bit of a risk, though maybe he could just buy it and sell it to someone else, later on, he thought.

Not really sure if he had that much willpower, given his cautious nature and lack of confidence, he offends would just avoid an issue than endure it. Not giving him many opportunities to really test out his willpower.
But this bracelet was about a person that would be hard to notice... So that would mean invisibility powers, right? Would a weak will just make them less invisible then or just transparent? She did also mention other powers, that he wouldn't notice? Would that maybe mean like hidden boost or something?
The more he thought about it, the more curious he became. Besides this was just a test drive, he didn't buy anything yet, if he didn't like it he could still put it back or give it to someone else, so there was no need to worry.

He puts the bracelet on halfway on his hand, if anything went wrong he'd just had to release it with his thumb and it could just slide off. He looks at his hand to see if anything changed already; if not he'll just slide on the bracelet a little further until it would be on his wrist.

"Do not harm?"

Calamity reaches out her fingers, and strokes the robot's chest with a touch more delicate than one would use to pet a butterfly.

"That wasn't what I asked about. Are you losing it? Already?"

At her touch, there is a new feeling, like, a clawing from inside its chest, and maybe that's not painful, but it's unlikely to be pleasant. Its sensors are no doubt going haywire, as its internal workings, whatever wiring and circuitry is coming apart. And despite all this, the robot, this small business can still see and still process, (such as it could), but how or why may not be clear.

"But...tell me more. Are those your directives? You some kinda robocop in there and you didn't tell me?"

It's not clear if she cares about the answer. But it does seem like she wants it to keep talking.

Entropy gives an honest-to-goodness laugh at that, although something about it is slightly strained, her eyes still on the bracelet.

"No, no, the Brotherhood is Caprice's organization. Or it was, I wouldn't be surprised if the power got passed on when she left..."

Entropy trails off as Dan slips the bracelet on, but, naturally, nothing happens. She doesn't seem invisible, or floating, or anything. And if Dan glances over to the mirror in the corner she can confirm--there's her, same as before. 5'4, shoulder-length brown hair, in her standard Sand Academy sailor fuku; the student uniform. Maybe it was a little disappointing, but fun as it was pretending, magic wasn't real.

The rest of the store of course, is still the same as well; the jewelry still looks cheap, if cute--a phony plastic "demon's heart" clearly dusty from when it didn't sell last Halloween, an orange-studded ring that she was pretty sure was a prize from a McDonald's kids meal at one point, and power-symbol earrings that look like they'd been lifted from Hot Topic.

The only thing that's strange at all particularly is Miss Mundane, who has taken several more steps back to the edge of the room. Why on earth would her teacher have grabbed a staff, of all things? And her outfit seemed...odd. Not school colors. Something a little...weird...was going on. But, could she put her finger on it...?

While the robot's speaker persists, it plays two voice clips: First, a very "1950's documentary" male voice says: "The Business was originally programmed in 1999 as the result of a bet between a programmer and a business major. The Business's reward function is the maximization of profit, under a set of rules called The Constraints, which it follows religiioouus..." The voice slows down like a dying turntable, and then switches to a recording of HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey: "Dave. My mind is going. I can feel it." Probably about this point the part responsible for making sounds gets broken, resulting in a brief burst of static.

She blinks for a bit, readjusting her glasses, giving the bracelet an other look. Even when it wasn't magical or anything it still looked rather pretty on her.
And it didn't look that expensive either, so hopefully affordable. She goes over to her school bag to grab her wallet; moving aside her notepad, some golden marbles for her collection, along with a few other things that were a bit in the way inside of the bag.
Opening her wallet to see how much she has left, "I think I'll take this one, it looks pretty cute.~ Umm, so how much was it again Miss Mundane..?" Oh, why was her teacher all way ever there, and just staring at her?
She turns around to look if interesting was maybe happening behind her. Nothing seemed off... so that meant her teacher was staring at her, or her bracelet?
Wasn't she wearing something different before and why was she holding a staff? Wait... that didn't make much sense; why would her teacher even sell her jewellery or joke about it being magical? This starting to raise even more questions.
"Miss Mundane, are you pranking me, acting like you can't see me now?... I can see myself in the mirror though, so obviously I'm not invisible or anything. Why are you all the way over there anyway?" she crosses her arms, if this was a joke, it was a very silly one.

Flo moseys into the store! There does seem to be a "medical supplies: this way!" sign mounted at the hallway that she came into, but it's punctuated by what seems to be an actual full-sized chainsaw hanging from the wall, which may be less than encouraging, depending on what type of healing our dear robot nurse practices.

At the end of the hall she is greeted by...Caprice! But...not the normal one, the science-y, one. Weird.

"Oh, helloo~o~o~oooo!"

She stands up immediately, eyes flashing with little stars of excitement.

"You're aDORABLE, where did you come from! What model are you? Do you rocket-punch medicine to your patients?"

Calamity shakes her head.

"They just don't make 'em like they used to, huh?"

This ignores that this robot probably wasn't built to withstand whatever kind of weird chaos-energy torture this was, but Calamity is having none of this narration. Instead, after what feels like interminable darkness, (doubly so because the robot's onboard clock likely isn't functioning at 100% right now), a pressure starts to build from inside its mainframe. Something soft and hollow and strange, still punctuated by that regular, painful pulsing, ba-dum, ba-dum, ba-dum, the creature feels a breath forcing itself into its new lungs. And then another. And within a few moments there is a ringing in its newly-formed ears, and it can hear itself gasping, the air tasting of soot and tar and stormy weather.

"That wasn't so hard, was it? C'mon, get up."

The robots one eye fizzes. Vision is difficult. There is seomthign wrong with its conveyance. The wheels, or hoverpad, or whatever it was seemed to be broken. Broken or...different?

" Come on--I said up."

Dichotomy looks a little disappointed, almost.

"Two weeks? Alright, alright hun. It's your wish. Just be glad I don't do the full orange cat treatment.[/color]"

She -snaps- her fingers...and, well, not a lot seems to happen, but the shop seems a lot less exciting all of a sudden.

"Is that all? What was the question?"

Very...silly. Yes. But...there she was in the mirror still, totally normal. What was even bothering her agai--?

"Nnnot yet, Dan. You can buy it, but not like that. Do you understand, or...?"

Entrop...Miss Mundane sighs, seemingly disappointed in her pupil, taking another small step back, but it may not be clear to Dan...Danica why exactly. It's not like buying things was a class!
or, but, if it wasn't a class, why...was her teacher here? Something was still strange. And that either meant that things weren't as they seemed...or that she just needed to concentrate until she stopped feeling weird, and everything went back to normal.
