And by "different", the narrator means "practically 'normal". The place generally looks like a normal restaurant, with carpeted floors, a bar, several tables, and overall no sign of its avian exterior. There are no employees to be seen just now, but there is a sign just inside telling would-be customers to seat themselves.*
