Should I stop or should I go now?

Postby Mitera Nikkou » Sun Aug 19, 2007 5:27 pm

There's this International festival in my area in October and I've been invited by the chief of the Santee to join his and another's booth (something to do with knights; I'm not quite sure what it's about exactly as of yet), and, out of respect, I had said that I would think about it. He hadn't asked until I had worked out a good way to make the coat of arms on the shields and suggestions for accurate attire for the times as opposed to the idealized ones in the magazine that they had. (My sister had been weighing the idea of wearing this dress that she had on hand, but it was a gothic style long after the period, which I've worked out to be around the time of the crusades.)

In essence, my knack for getting involved in ways that lead up to things that I'd rather avoid has once again happened. So... Should I go? I'm no good around people and I really don't know as much as those running the booths to be of any real help. I'm no fan of history, either... Even though I seem to pick up a lot of it. (I'm no fan of English as well, yet I also seem to use it more than most other things... What is with this trend? O.o) The only reason why I'm considering this is because I've had a brain fart this morning that literally changed my life, and was probably why I got involved in helping in the first place. I figure that I'll be out and about in public soon enough, so I might as well get out when I can and see how I'll do. Still, that alone isn't enough for me to be sure. Help me?

I think you should go. But that's just me. If you have to go out and about soon enough, as you put it, you might as well do it here as not, right? And you'll be surprised how much easier it is to deal with people when you're wearing a costume. I know there have been times when I've found it's easier to talk to people I don't already know well when I've been in garb or some sort or another. This could actually be easier than some other, more mundane option of socializing.

Well, it might be good for you to try it.

Eh, I suggest you go. It's up to you in the end, but it sounds like fun and medieval knight-y stuff rocks.
The awakening of the mind gives way to a world of possibilities.
