I think it'd be good business sense to still use female leads where they've shown to work well. You can't have a romance without one, for instance. ;p

They're connected to culture. While we know of the transgendered and such, they generally keep to themselves and haven't impacted society as much as the homosexual population has. Once the number of TG people becomes more apparent, and they become more open and accepted in society, it's likely that more movies from Hollywood will turn out to be directed toward a TG audience. For now we'll just have a few major films trickle out, though many of them only get as close as crossdressing, such as Some like it hot and Tootsie. Other than Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde (as well as Sister Hyde), I can't really think of any other Hollywood movies that focused on TG. Unless you count Switch. Oh, and I guess the Hot Chick counts as well, for those of the FtM persuasion. Duh! *Slaps forehead*
