Have a Happy Remembrance Day

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
---

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

May we remember all the soilders to died for us, The ones who are gone, and the ones who are still here. This is a commonwealth holiday so few people here probly know what this is all about. But I still feel this should be posted. I my self just came back from the ceremonies in our town.

But let's not forget the 11th of November on the 11th hour in 1918 when the guns fell silent, and less we forget the War we've fought for the peace we enjoy today.

*pins a poppy to her blouse*

As I understand it, that is the tradition in the Commonwealth.

In the US, Armistice Day is known as Veteran's Day. It is a day not just to remember those that died in in the Expeditionary Force, but all those that had to face the horror of war.

I have a number of relatives that served in war time and that hits home for me. I hope everybody takes a minute to reflect on what these men and women went through for us (you might question the war they fought, but they did it believing they were serving us).
LorekeeperEirien: That is quite possibly the most hillariously disturbing comment I've heard all day
