there is a belief that the mentally challenged might be stronger than average people whether because they don't hold back like normal people do or they were more prone to adrenelin spikes.. or just being stronger..

This (retard strength) is not always true. I worked with some that were fantastically strong. This guy was able to lift a 350 pound man off his feet and throw him, to some that are so weak they couldn't lift a fork. Basically some have extra hormones that normal people lack. As a former night worker at a state institution for retarded individuals, I can say that most of them are not above average in strength. The one guy who I said was very strong was a nice guy most of the time, and we would distract him by talking about food to get him to calm back down.

I've heard about insane people being ridiculously strong, but never of 'retards' (could we use a nicer term please?) strength before. I know that sometimes in moments of madness, people have strength they otherwise wouldn't. Ever heard of mothers lifting fallen trees off their children?
It's something to do with the muscles. The fibres (or something) stop limiting themselves to allow greater and faster exertion of the muscles.
I don't if that's true or not, but that's what I've heard. Perhaps there is a similarity.
