It's a shame that no one tries to use whatever name that I happen to go by. Whatever happened to the little, redundant challenges in one's life? :O

What a shame. With all of the Japanese, Chinese and Korean sites that I often come across, I prefer seeing the text instead of a mess of symbols and gobbledygook. Hmmmm... I wonder who else could possibly have the same use for other languages other than what people initially get, because I also like to write in Japanese on occasion, if not for fun then to write down from an image so I can toss it into an online translator. Well, if my dictionary fails me, which it often does since it has its limits as a dual-language dictionary.

Thing is, I've got a plug-in that's supposed to allow me to see Japanese text. I got it when I started investigating Japanese Gothic Lolita sites.... It makes the pages easier to look at, if not comprehend. Guess it doesn't apply in this instance. I love the way Japanese text looks, but I couldn't write it to save my life.

A plug-in? Is that stuff in the regional and language section where you got it? It has been so long since I did that stuff that I know not what I have. Whatever it is, though, I can set it so my computer works it functions on Japanese stuff (I think), if there are Japanese games that I want to play that won't work unless I have it that way. That's what I had to do for Seal Online to work, which was in Chinese. And when my computer is in its default mode, English, I have a language bar that allows me to write in Japanese by changing the options. It's MS IME2002 or something like that.

And all of that blather. Blather! Bluh-bluh-bluh-bluh-blugh! XD

I actually got it on visitation of a site. Don't remember which one. I just know I got a window asking me if I wanted to download this Windows viewing thing or whatever. I at first said no, but it kept coming up on me every site I went to, and I finally caved in out of self defense. I don't know where to go to download it other than that, I'm afraid. Don't even remember the name of the thing.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I remember getting one of those a long time ago, on another computer, but this thing has been a lot more handy to me. Let's see... I'm not sure what you use (well, it sounds like Windows, but I know not what type), but this is how I got it set up on XP.

Start: Control panel: Date, Time, Language and Regional Options: Regional and Language Options: Languages: Supplemental Language Support: Install Files for East Asian Languages (check the box): Apply.

I use Windows, alternating browsers between IE and Firefox. It seems to work on both browsers. And oddly enough, I only got the option on this newer computer. I started researching those sites first on my old computer, when we still had dial-up. I got this new one after we got DSL so as to be able to use it independently and not have to share my parent's computer for internet. That's when I A) started using Firefox for everything but Hotmail (as only IE will let me attach signature images to my messages) and B) got the happy and insistent offer to get that patch. Weird, huh? Maybe it was a newer-Windows thing or whatever.

Beats me. There's probably an option somewhere that turns off such a feature, although I wouldn't know since, outside of testing code stuff, I've only used IE less than I can count on one hand.
