The context, as far as I can recall, was what someone would sell their soul for, regardless of the consequences. There really wasn't a basis for how it was done, such as calling upon a demon and going to Hell if you sold your soul, or if your soul, instead of taking its natural course after death, ended up in some other circumstances/condition.

I think I know why. Pretty much for the same thing as yourself, though not as a direct result of selling my soul. I would sell my soul to get another soul, one to my specifications, because I'm not satisfied with the one that I have. And through this new soul I would have a greater chance of accomplishing that which I've hoped and failed to do with this one.

But I take a scientific stance on the term soul, which is just a poetic word for 'mind'. Which only makes it more special, and something one cannot live without.

I took the term "soul" both ways. In regard to the spiritual kind, I want to break away and make it on my own in case my life just becomes a small part of another being (you know, if there's reincarnation). As for my physical mind, I'd want a different one (with memories intact), one that actually rapports with my will. Right now I have a bunch of problems that create a situation where I have a key, and I can turn it in the ignition all that I want, but I've got no engine, or at least not a working one. So I'll be a mindless vegetable until such a time that it ever gets resolved. :O
