It's not like we were on topic, anyway. But I can change that!

On-topic post:

Obama won! God bless America!

__________

(Assuming the only toleration I can hope for is to use his name in a non-joking and non-slanderous way. Unless Republicans think that it's slanderous. Since I can't win either way, damn it all to Hell, I say!

And no jokes for you, AmbushCat. If you can't take them, you can't dish them out. Having it both ways is bad in the eyes of God.

Still, this is supposed to be a serious topic (I guess?), so my bad.)

(Sometimes it's easier to just let people know when you're just kidding around. If you're not being obvious about it, people are inclined to take things a lot more seriously.

I had to deal with kids picking on me for thirteen years when I was in school, so often-times I can't tell if someone's just teasing me or not. Please, just...be a bit more careful next time, alright? :) )

McCain has been trounced! Hooray beer!

(Had to say something on topic so I can reassure everyone that I did not bring Alf with me into PM with AmbushCat, and that there is no animosity between us. Some animality, perhaps, if he's up to playing a certain game. ;p

And whoever got the Alf joke... Should I applaud you? <_<; )

Whatever works for some people, I guess.

And yeah, Alf treats cats the same way we treat chickens.

I can say just as bad things about CNN. Let me tell you something about the press, they are really fat, exceptionally stupid, and working for UPI.

The crowds have spoken. Your Messiah has made it. And there will be "Change". I will watch now as the treasury grows fat with over taxation, and limited use of the military. I will watch my job deteriorate and will probably watch it get cut. The masses will be happy, oh so happy, as more money flows into their pockets as I work to give them that money that our new president will surely pluck from my pockets, and my hard working family’s pockets and redistribute to the stupid, lazy, and unlucky. Say good bye to your stimulus checks! They are now going to the welfare recipients and illegal aliens.

I think that's an outrageous and ill-informed statement. (And someone I know would have called it parroting. At the very least. <_<; ) But I guess only time will tell, won't it? I'm saving it on my computer so I can bring it out in a couple of years, since this topic will eventually be pruned. Not that I expect it to do any good for anyone. I've just got nothing better to do. ;/

I'm a radioman in the army. I fix and use radios in the field. My other job is working with local radio and broadcasting stations and fix there equipment. I get paid good money for it. And the government already takes what they need. I'm fine with that. But Obama's redistribution of wealth plan will raise my taxes by 75 Percent!

That's it, then? You make an income that will increase your taxes by 75% under his plan? What is your income, then? From what I understand, you're supposed to get a tax cut at $150,000 or less, no tax increase between that and $250,000, and a tax increase above that.

Don't forget our debt to China. Blundering Bush wanted to barrow a large sum of money. And since China is doing an Ok job, lets barrow from them, heck a good quarter of our industry is already there. What was it, like 500 Billion? Obama will have to have that paid off too. And where will he get the money? That's what will raise my taxes. Because he has got to get that money form somewhere. That and my state has a habit of raising taxes.

That doesn't mean he's going to raise everyone's taxes to do that. That kind of defeats the purpose of his plan. But if your state raises your taxes, then take that up with your state. They can be independent like that.

Other than that, we have a lot of things that we can cut spending on. Like, say... On the Pentagon? Check this out. (Can't go wrong with a name like Christian Science Monitor. ;p ) You fix the problems mentioned in the article, cut its annual funding down considerably, and end the two wars... I'm sure we'll see a significant amount of change back in our pockets.

But it's not just about that. I don't know why people are more concerned about the president and what he does when congress is largely responsible for both the problems and the solutions of yesterday, today and tomorrow. You'd think that a lower approval rating than the president would say as much, but... ;/ I'm sure if congress handled our money better we wouldn't even need to think about raising taxes for anyone. But we're in this mess in large part because of how congress dictates how much money goes where (including to themselves and their friends). Congress is like a vehicle. We can fill it up with the same amount of fuel (i.e. money), but not every vehicle has the same gas mileage. And congress is like a Hummer. What we need is something more economical so we can get more out of each tax dollar spent.

Since I had a response to this thread that was somewhat controversial, I quoted the posts and replied in the Soap Box. Anyone is welcome to respond there, and of course no one is obligated to. I just thought I'd leave this note in case anyone wanted to check it out and might not yet have access.

My response is to the banter on the second half of the previous page.
Tell me, for what price would you give up hope?
Would you follow the will o' the wisp of the brightest morning star?
How far?

Getting back to congress. You know what the most balanced system is? A Republican President, with a Democratic Congress, or a Democratic president, with a Republican Congress. If either party proposes a new bill, it can be shot down easily. But as a drawback, little changes, and hardly anything gets done. Unless it appeals to both parties.
