Stellar is Pissed

Why? Why? WHY???
Because my fricken phone carrier wont let me disconnect my phone over the phone because I sound like a woman. The only thing she would tell me is "I'm sorry I can't disconnect your phone because it says the plan was opened by a male."
"Um.. I have my SSN, my birthdate, and my ID right here."
"I'm sorry mam you'll have to verify your ID at a retailer. Can I reffer you to the nearest dealer?"
*CLICK*
I don't have a car and I'm certainly not taking the bus just to disconnect my phone. Luckily, Cricket is a no contract month to month thing so it doesn't matter, my bill was due yesterday and I figured I'd call and disconnect it out of courtesy. But now I'm just not gonna pay my bill because the 'manager' i spoke with was a bitch.
*The Stellar one is still pissed after ranting*

I wonder if she was one of those people that takes thing out on people to relieve their own stress and woes.

She wasn't upset. She actually got a little firghtened when I started getting angry. And I probly would have blown this off like I do everything else but having to wait on hold for 40 minutes to have an 80 second conversation that ends like this is rediculous!

Which is one reason why I'm glad to not have a life. I have a lot of reasons to not be around people. Well, near the world in general. I feel for you, though; I just hate phones. And all that slightly irrelevant stuff. <.<;

I've run into this before; when I went for my driving test a few years ago, I got nitpicked to failure ("Oops, you're going at 51 in a 50 zone, FAIL. Oops, you sped up to change lanes, FAIL. Oops, you waited too long at a stop sign [the street was thin and I SAID I wasn't sure if I could fit], FAIL). After the 5th BS failure, I finally exploded in the car on the idiot instructor, who actually got up and walked away, refusing to acknowledge that she had just cost me ANOTHER $75...
After failing 6 times in rapid succession for horribly pointless small infractions, I finally concluded that this must be a move by the government to get extra cash from people, since it's $75 per test and you get to pay regardless of the result...

Maybe you can sue them for big bucks!!!
Maybe the person is trying to cover his or her job. You know make a mistake and it's the ax for her. It only would take a red flag. Anyways thoese workers are looking at flow charts when they talk to you anyways. I would think that your rejection was planed out years before you called. That bureaucray for you....
...You can still get mad at them them and sue. ^_^

Stellar, that just plain sucks.
So does your tale Selena.
So!
...
I don't have anything to contribute. If you want to yell and swear at someone I'll sit there and take it, let me know.

I can't say I don't see the woman's point. I can imagine it being confusing, especially if it was her first time running into such a situation. Probably if her knowledge was as varied as ours about these sort of things she would have been all too willing. Maybe you should write them a letter and if it does or doesn't get there before they turn it off you can just tell the story and get them to waive any fees they might otherwise feel obliged to bill you for. Assuming the company you're with works that way or it's even a big enough bother for you to follow up on.
Humorous side note. My brother forced my Dad to enter into the Modern Communications Age by giving him a cell phone. He needed me to show him how to work it. I must say I did very good. Especially since I haven't worked with a cell phone since they could barely fit in your pocket back in 2000. And that was just one my mom loaned me so I could stay in touch when I went on my trip to commune with a group of dragons in Virginia.

I'm tired so here goes a quick reply
P-tan- no this isn't a silly random idea to be spammed on. I'm really upset that I couldn't disconnect my phone, and since it doesn't have anything to do with MSF it's for the Tea Room.
Rowan- I'd never vent on someone as nice as you.
Nylena- I'd send a letter but Taco Bell gives me enough paperwork to deal with. Soo... yeah. Cricket is a dealer where it's pay by the month. My bill was due on the 4th, and the number I had just ported to my new phone plan this morning. There's no sort of charges since it's pay before you use. They just give a warning that "if you don't pay your phone there's a chance that your number could be taken in the day or two that you're disconnected." But guess what? I already took my own number! Screw you Cricket!
Belle- I'd love to sue, do you know any good lawyers?
Everyone else- I've run out of reply power, good night. Or ... whatever you say when you go to sleep in the middle of the day.

Well I'm glad to hear that you are "sticking it to the man" as much as you can. It sounds like they are pirates more then anything. They want to plunder all your monneys.
As for the lawyers I can only think that the yellow pages would be your best bet. ^^;
