I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but it sounds like Iowa's now in the process of potentially allowing gay marriage to be possible in the state.
News thingy.

Never under stode why some people get so up in arms about Gay Marriage. The only Negative I chould think of is people not knowing why kinda Marriage your talking about when you say your getting married.
XD
Witch chould be fixed up creating a new word. But all in all it whould be abused so it's for the best it's just called Marriage.

Some real nutwings believe that just because (quoting "New World" for a minute) "one man's interpretation of a biased translation of a book of events written hundreds of years after the fact and popular fiction" says that marriage HAS to be between a male and a female, that they have to fight, scream, cry and so on about how evil the idea of not listening to it is.

Call me backward, but I have always felt the term 'marriage' implied a religious relationship. I personally feel that civil unions (the more legalistic term) should be the term of choice for any couple. I mean after all, I know somebody that had the cermony in April, but didn't actually file the paperwork with the city office (Japanese version of a courthouse records office) until May. As such, by law they were married on the later date. As I understand it I had a friend who was in the military. The filed the marriage before he deployed, but wanted to wait till he returned before having a nice church cermony.

I have to agree with Sensei. It should be called a civil Union more then anything.
I kinda felt that way for awhile. But I've never been able to word it right and end up sounding like a dick by accedent. So I've always just said yah I'm for it Gay Marragie and left it to that.

I think people can do what they wish; call it what they wish, and whatnot...
I mean, is it really affecting anyone else? Religion nuts saying that this is a violation of the "sanctity of marriage" have obviously never had common sense instilled in them as a little child. At the very least, have some damned consistency...

I think people prefer the term "marriage", regardless of what they think, because its history and tradition makes it seem more important/sacred than some recent and technical law term. A part of it is about recognition; what's so good, if not equal or better, if people in general are like, "so you got a civil union. I got a marriage."
Of course, what with separation of church and state, I kind of figured that marriage should have been tacked to the ceremony alone instead of the certificate as well. And when you have two certificates for the same thing, of course people are going to say that one is better than the other. It reminds me of some other stupid thing that I heard recently... Oh, what was it... That they didn't let anyone have channel 1 because of being first and all that crap. *Shakes head*
But, really, I don't see how there is a sanctity of marriage. So what if a hetero couple can exercise the standard method of reproduction? Even some hetero couples have artificial insemination. And somehow they think that children are worse off with gay parents/guardians... Right... I can see the logic in that. I'm sure that all of the hetero divorces is a sure sign that gay couples will divorce twice as much. But, when you get right down to it, those against gay marriage are just stupid, because the only real difference between them are where the direction of their affections are given. Which means... What? Don't we have enough orphans and foster children as it is? If they're not going to have children anyway (especially the homosexual men), what could be better than adding less children and potentially picking up those lost to hetero people (for whatever reason)? It just boggles my mind. I, for one, don't think that women need to make the only accomplishment in their lives being mothers of armies. But, of course, a lot of the same people against gays and abortion are very fond of the military... I prefer gay parents and what they may rub off on children to the hetero ones that want to make as much flesh as they can have for fodder.
Ah, humanity... When will it end? XD
