One wish

Nekkid's caption got me thinking. If I had one wish what would it be? The first choise that jumps to mind is to have been born female. But I'm not that selfish... But then I start thinking what I could wish for that would help more then just one person, and it blows out of proportion because some people don't deserve the grace of help from my wish; wether it's because they themselves are selfish, mean in general, or have commited crimes without a just reason. That's when the idea of creation comes into my head, could I ask to be Stellar? In all her undefined ways of being Astrial...

Bah, enough of my insomniac ramble, the point was to ask what you would wish for =D So tell me =)

I would wish that everyone had free will. And let's not derail the thread by asking how I think that we don't have free will. XD;;

I would never want to be in that situation because I know I'd blow the wish on something selfish and impulsive that I wanted at the time rather than doing something worthwhile. Either that, or I'd wish that someone who could make a more beneficial decision to the world had the wish. That works.

Seeing as I am selfish, I wouldn't mind blowing it on myself :D

If I had to I'd use it on myself. I'd rather make a broader wish that would allow me to change people mentally and physically and warp reality so that everyone is happy in their life.

True happiness for everyone would be a good idea, I think.
Who am I to judge people, weather they deserved to become happy or not? And I believe that people tend to hurt people much less when they are happy anyway.
My idea:
Happy people=Nice people

I agree with Xia, though my wish would have the world benefitting plus of having a vampire that loves to screw up evil people.

It's human nature to want to do something for yourself if your offered that kind of choice. It's like if a guy came up to you and says "I have a million dollars here, do you want it, or should I give it to that guy over there?" Most would take the money

Anyway, my wish would probably be to make the world a better place or something. Or to be immortal, case death scares the crud outta me. And the good immortality! Not the one where I still age until I eventually turn to dust anyway.

Being immortal would be nice... another thing i've often though i'd wish for would be the ability to change my form at will.

:P I'd ask to meet my own characters in person. That'd be a trip.

Or be able to concentrate better. That'd be nice, too. Or the shapeshifting thing.

However, if memory serves, I've asked myself that question a lot, and my answer's usually been "To find the Grand Grimoire." And by that I mean the one that appears to Marche, Ritz, and Mewt in FFTA.

Heavens, how that would be awesome.

Immortality is overrated. You have to watch your parents, your friends, your spouse, and your kids die while you keep right on living.

I'd rather wish for there to be an afterlife based--sort of--on the Christian model. Not the specific structure or anything, or the "no non-believers" rule, but good people go to heaven, bad people go elsewhere. Reincarnation is an available option too, in case you liked living.

Now if it turns out that the Christians are right, and heaven already exists, then I've just wasted my wish. That's cool with me; at least I know I've got someplace to go after this.

And about the fear of death thing, Shadowmaster, just remember the immortal words of... um... Mark Twain, I think:

"Death is nothing but a horizon. And a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight."

Well I could give opinions about a couple of the wishes on here and how they may not work, but I don't feel like derailing the thread.

As for me? Mine would have to be granted in a specific way, but if I got it to how I want it...

I believe that every bit of 'media' we see. (Sailor Moon, Harry Potter, Hamtaro, ETC) is real in some other dimension or world.

My wish would be the ability to freely travel to those worlds and back at my leaisure and be able to control which world I'm going to.

I'd also have to figure out how to get it to where I could take others with me if needed.

Assuming I could do all that. It would be all I need.

Want to be a girl? Quick trip to the Ranma world.

Want imortality? Go collect the dragonballs.

I've... kinda put a lot of thought into this.

After everything I've gone through in life. I'd like something that'd make me happy, yet at the same time I could make so many others happy by doing so.

Plus in the end I'd get to have the adventure of a lifetime!

I can't say I'd enjoy anything more then that.

Wish I'd thought of that... There's plenty of universes with established afterlives--Bleach, DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho come to mind--but there's a chance you're already right about the universes existing, Garath.

Now I can't remember the specific reasoning my Sci-Fi teacher used to make this arguement, but there's some rule in Quantum Physics that says that all possibilities exist simultaneously. This is ordinarily applied to atoms and quarks and whatnot, but it can also be applied to the things those atoms make up, like humans, planets, and the universe itself.

What this comes down to is that for each reality where some rule or standard or person exists, there's another one where it doesn't. So everything that doesn't exist in this universe--magic, for instance--must exist in another. The trick is getting to those universes, something that I think is fully within the realm of scientific possibility.

Honestly, I wish to be able to do anything. Because they you can do just that, ANYTHING.

YOU can make your self immortal, un-immortal, fly, save world peace, mke someone else's life better, make your life better, etc.

So yeah.....BEAT THAT!!

It's not so much the death aspect of it as the "I'm not sure theres anything after death." that scares me.

Anyway, good ideas. I hadn't thought of most of them.
