Dreams: strange but awesome

Postby Mitera Nikkou » Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:06 am

This was inspired by a dream that I had this morning, where I was the Pink Spore. XD (That's Chibi-Usa for those not in the know.)

I just wanted to talk about dreams. A dream is probably the single most enjoyable experience that I get to have, so I still hope to achieve such an experience consciously someday. There're just so many wonderful things about dreams, at least to me; even if I happen to be a Pink Spore. ;/ The more that I dream the more real they become and less unreal reality becomes. That might be a cause for concern, but I'm not worried about mainstream perceptions of reality, so...

So, yeah, what have you to say about dreams?

I looove dreams. That's where half my creative energy comes from. Beautiful manipulation of a fictional reality! I have a lot of lucid dreams that I remember and have a blast! Well, most of the time, there have been some embarrassing dreams about Sean Combs I'd rather not go into detail about, but otherwise they're awesome.

One time, I had the longest running lucid dream I ever had where I was time traveling by breaking rainbow colored snow globes that contained parts of the time space continuum in them and I went to the middle ages and met a princess and had to save her from evil and it was awesome!
The awakening of the mind gives way to a world of possibilities.

Lucid adventures are definitely awesome. Coincidentally, I had a short one as Chibi-Usa. I had to look for my (real-life but deceased) grandfather, found a clue as to where he had gone, then I went to Hotaru and brought her along for my search. Even though it was "short" (depends on how you perceive time in dreams, I suppose) the environments were richly detailed and I got to teleport and fly. Oh, and I got to make googly eyes and pout, making a whole crowd of people break down, cry and tell me what I wanted to know. XD;;

Might as well air my dirty laundry now, I've had a long-running lucid dream of myself replacing the main character of Pokemon, back when the original Red and Blue came out.

I almost made it to the Elite 4....and then I woke up.

Most of them, though, I can't remember...though I hear that drinking a glass of water right before bed helps.

Some dreams seem to go faster than others...I've had one I can't exactly remember, but I know it seemed like I had just been there for an instant before I woke up....8 hours later.

The mind is a funny thing, especially the subconscious.

I had a funny discussion with my roommate about the other day, since watching Ghost Hound which deals a lot with dreams and such.

Regardless, my roommate made note one time he dreamed about going through a day once, and then two days later, actually followed through with his dream in real life. I made the comeback that maybe he went through with the whole day in real life and then two days later had the dream about his day. I yelled a few curses at me while I laughed, but it was all in good fun.

Dreams are pretty nifty and such, I just tend to not remember mine, but those that I do remember are fairly detailed. Color, sound, the whole deal.

I don't know about you guys, but my dreams can get pretty weird. One time I dreamed I was in my school at night, but when you walked into the principle's office, it was like a lounge, with Xbox 360 and everything.

That's not what's weird, though. My dreams feel real. I usually don't understand it was a dream until my alarm's blaring in my ear.

My dreams are weird too. One I still distinctly remember had me fighting a bunch of martial artists who were attacking me with Gardening Equipment. I had to defeat this one chap who was trying to kill me with a gas powered lawnmower by using a bunch of moves from the Matrix. Oddly enough the Matrix wasn't even in theatres at the time...

I can top most weird dreams... it all started about a year ago, when I spent most of my time playing MegaMan Zero games, watching Keroro Gunso(Sgt. Frog), and listening to Michael Jackson's Thriller(I was trying to make a music video).

When I fell asleep in my Spanish class I was immediately watching a MegaMan Zero scene. Zero was in a cloak looking for something in a Neo Arcadia Night Club, when suddenly there's an epic battle between Zero and several Mechaniloids. After Zero destroyed a large X-clone Mechaniloid the dance floor was left completely bare and Harpuia, Leviathan, Fefnir, and Copy X stand in front of the DJ Reploid. They exchange a few words and Zero finally talks back simply saying: "There's only one way to defeat you all at once... Afro Power!!!!!" Zero spontaniously grows an afro and starts doing the Thriller with all the broken Mechaniloids. Credits then roll, mostly no-names, but it was apparently directed by Stephen Spielberg.

I woke up, according to my friends, looking extremely dumbfounded.

Man, all you lucky people get awesome dreams, what do I get? Nothing most of the time.

When I do, it's usually me doing something boring like going to university or eating breakfast which is usually the worst because then I'll wake up and realise I actually have to go through it all again.
Then on the odd chance of my dreams becoming unrealistic, I find out my brain apparantly hates me because I'll usually end up dreaming about getting cancer or learning that someone close to me has died.

A good example of this would be the dream I had this morning where my hair had fallen out overnight in some spots which as you can imagine, made me look ridiculous.

Why the hell can't I dream about anything good like punching Sonic the hedgehog in the face whilst riding a segway into a sunset made of caramel?

If it makes you feel any better not all of my dreams are all that great. Probably the worst of them is when they start out great but end too soon, especially before any resolution. I was kind of disappointed because the dream I've been mentioning in this topic had ended just before I could hug my grandfather, who is the only person of my family that I ever cared for; or still care for, as it were. Hotaru got a hug from him, though... Which was about the exact point that it ended. Sadness.

But in other cases, while I find them amusing, I do end up dying from time to time, in all sorts of ways. One time I remember managing to avoid being shot only to fall into the water and be caught in a spinning log type of thing that had spikes; I got to feel the injury briefly and see blood in the water before it ended. Probably the only recurring problem that I ever have in my dreams, in regard to my body, tends to be my teeth. On many occasions they are loose and fall out, or there's some other problem with them.

I've heard that your dreams can be affected by the food that you eat before bed, or that some food in particular will raise your chances of dreaming in the first place. I can't say that I've found anything consistent but sometimes I do wonder... So I try to have a meal or a snack before I go to bed, or even just a drink of something. But right now I still have to hope for the kind of dreams that I'm interested in. Lucid dreams don't come as often as I'd like but I'm glad to notice that most of them now have me as a girl at the least, if not an anime-type one.

I had a dream once with a distinctly Radical Dreamers feel to it (obscure game reference, woo hoo!). I don't recall the details, but I was part of a band of thieves whose ranks included a blond-haired girl and a man who was a cat -- or a cat who was a man, I was never quite sure.

What can I say, all I do is dream, and I write down awesome ones with as much detail as possible because dreams give me what I need most. Warmth. And being able to re-experience my dreams by reading them is more then enough to make up for the lack of real love in my life.

Allow me to share one of my favorites =)

I was back in high school down in California. It was one of my last days being there because the plans were all set for me to move. There was a girl, and my old friend Cody. Physically in the dream I was a little further transitioned then I am today, so I was happy with myself.

The girl and I seemed to have discussed dating before. I'm not sure how it turned out, but at the beginning of the dream we didn't act like a couple, we were just flirty.

The part of the dream I remember most took place after school. The girl and I passed in the hall and she stopped me, "So, should I call you?" "Yeah, you can call me," I responded as my heart lept but ached at the same time, not wanting to leave her behind. "What should I call you?" she asked with a smile. I was taken back and fumbled through names I've used with various friends. "How about I call you Stellar," she smiled, kissed me and continued on her way. I smile and head on my way.

The dream skipped ahead to me walking out of a classroom with Cody. We made smalltalk as we walked across campus to the multipurpose room. There's a rater cluttered batch of people at the entrance and when I manage to get in I find a corner set up. The girl takes my hand and leads me over to the corner. I start sobbing to myself because, "This is a dream come true." We don't say anything, our feeling are mutual, and it's very comfortable. My last thought in the dream was, "I really have something to stay for."

And that's when I woke up to realize it really was a dream... I eat those emotions like I eat ice cream though! ^_^ You can never have too much.

I had a real strange dream a while back where Parachuting zombies attacked America and I was trapped inside a flea market. Course it didn't help that I had just started World War Z that night...
