How do I go about this...?

Let's say that I wanted to propose a theory to the scientific community. How would I go about that? I have no idea.

Wikipedia has a pretty good entry on "Theory" in a scientific sense, but I can let you look that up if you want to see it in detail.

Regardless, for the concise verbage on it, Wikipedia Summed up a Thoery (that could be presented or some such) as a -get ready for this, this is one heck of a verbose definition-
mathematical or logical explanation, or a testable model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise falsified through empirical observation.

So, if you were to try to present a scientific theory, you'd want to have some sort of mathematical model or a darn good explanation as to why something acts the way it does, to predict the way something works the way it does.

It doesn't necessarily have to be always TRUE, but it could be taken as a generalization as to why something happens, or an extremely specialized case. but as the definition brought up, there ought to be a way to (eventually) test said theory, and either prove it, or falsify it, since the scientific community is all about testing something, and reproducing results in order to prove or deny a theory or whatever. :O

Best way I know of to present your theory/idea to the scientific community is to have it published in a peer reviewed journal pertaining to the subject.

How you go about doing that depends on the journal you choose to submit it to

That helps. (And I don't mean that in a sarcastic way.) Testing will be a problem, though. Perhaps. It concerns dark matter; and that's practically non-existent, save for some observations that might be attributed to it. As far as I know. I can't say I keep up-to-date with these things. ;/

The fun part about all this, was that I got the final piece of some ideas I've been having in my last batch of dreams. It was very interesting, and compelling, and thus the creation of this topic.

In that case, find journals that have articles pertaining to dark matter. read what they have done and more importantly, see how they dealt with that fact

Sounds like good advice, so I'll take it. Now to find these articles... It's particularly hard for a nekkid person to accomplish. ;p

To start, google has a beta for a scientific article search hidden somewhere for journals- also, from my experience, check a site called "Science Direct" they have a pretty nice (and by that, I mean HUGE) selection of wonderfully sciency papers that ought to get you start Nikkou.
