Magical Sailor Fuku

Alright, this summer a group of friends and myself are going to A-kon in Dallas, and one of the things we enjoy doing is to cosplay. However, this year I'm having trouble finding a certain piece of clothing and have got desperate enough to ask around on forums to see if anyone can help ^^;.

The thing I'm looking for is the coat the Yuuichi wears in Kanon, I need it to be rather accurate as it is the most recognizable thing he wears... but I can't find it in local shops and can only find blazers when I look around online.

If anyone can tell me where I could find something very similar to this online, or even better terms to search for it it would be GREATLY appreciated.

I gave it a go, and I got pretty close, but I don't think they were acceptable considering the small bits that were out of place (almost always the buttons). You'll probably have more luck finding something like that at a Goodwill, or Salvation Army. The animation makes the jacket look old-fashioned, though, if you ask me, so an overcoat with a hood should, in reality, be fine. But, eh.

Wow, those actually would work really well. The problem I have with the first one is mainly the $330 price tag, however the second one didn't link to a store so I can't tell how much it would cost.

And yes, I have been regularly visiting three thrift stores to try and find one, but their winter supplies are getting rather sparse so it's a bit harder to find now.

*Edit* Actually, after looking at the website the the second was linked to... if I understand it right it should only cost around 10-15 US dollars... I may buy this.

Ugh... nevermind. That website only deals with bulk orders. Thanks though, could you tell me what terms you used to find those?

The key words I used were just "hood" and "overcoat." I stuck with overcoat because it suggests something simple to wear over other things and has pockets in the front like a coat or trench coat would, rather than how a jacket would. Or, at least I seem to see a general difference. I didn't look up any trench coats because they're too long, the buttons can be more elaborate and obvious, and there's ofttimes a belt. Other than that I don't think a sweat shirt would have such defining seams or shoulders that were stiff enough to not conform to the shape of the shoulder.

You could probably also look at Spring and Fall catalogs (you can look through those on the Internet, of course) and such, under coats. Maybe you'll get lucky.
